Growing up, our bus driver would allow us to have a water gun fight on he last day of school. We had to wait until we were out of view of anyone else because he was definitely not supposed to allow that to happen, but once we got about a mile from the school, it was carnage until you got off.

I looked forward to it every year and it was one of my favorite childhood memories. RIP Frankie
We did the exact same, with water ballons and whatever "weapons" we could carry. I would also moon the bus just after I got dropped off at home as they drove off.

Our last day with students. Pretty chill in my classroom - some have played hangman, which has been fun interactions with the students. Other classes not so much into it.

Really, I'm just killing time and filling in grades until the seventh period. They have must-do presentations to complete today. I had planned we'd be finished by now, but they drug their feet on their research and preparation. Sigh.

Don't recall much for celebrations other than grad parties in high school.

I saw a meme the other day talking about how at one time summers felt like a year and ain't that the truth.

When I was young I always thought it felt like a year to start... then before you knew it the town celebration was happening in August and school was less than a week away. Where did the time go?

Now as an adult I can think of is where does the summer go? Work, work, work... adults need a summer break!

As a kid I always remember the 4th of July being over and realizing that summer break was on the down hill slide and how much I hated that feeling.

We saved all the beer tops booze tops etc from So year high school through Sr. Year. Someone dumped the garbage bags full of tops down the stairs on the last day of school. In 00's when they tore out lockers in the back hallway they found 10-15 jack daniels tops and multiple beer caps. Apologies to the custodial staff of Ames High School 1984.

Man, there's just something about the last day of school that hits my feelers. My school didn't do anything special but there was just something about walking those hallways on the last day of school that I just can't put into words. I can still hear and feel it. Those of us that graduated prior to 2003-2005 truly got to experience those high school years in a much more simpler time. I feel sorry for my kids that they will never get to experience that in their teen years.
Ahh yes, the high school days. The best part about high school chicks is I keep getting older they stay the same age.

In Junior high we had field day. In 7th grade our section came in close second out of 4. I was really looking forward to 8th grade. I thought we would kick ass. First off, instead of being warm and nice, the weather was cool and I was in my cutoffs and short sleeves. The boys did good but the girls weren't into it (pre-teen girls, you know). So we didn't do so well. Which kind of got worse because before they completed the final events the school day ran out of time and they didn't even give the award ribbons. It felt so much different and worse than 7th grade and after I built it up and was looking so forward to it I was pretty upset. I remember riding home on the bus all glum and when I got off the bus, I went directly out to the hog pen and began to fill the water tank. And I just sat there and bawled like a little kid.

My middle school principal would play Schools Out over the speakers at the final bell. My mom worked in that school for a couple decades as well so I keep the tradition going by blaring it when picking the kids up. We do ice cream the night before the first day but I see no reason to not start doing it on the last day as well!

LM is done next Wednesday.
Fun fact: Alice Cooper's lead guitarist, Glen Buxton, lived in Clarion. School's Out was one of the hits that he co-wrote.

Not exactly sure.
I had some childhood friends who went to a small town elementary school when it was closed for good. I can only imagine how next level crazy the VERY LAST day of school was there.
My first school closed after my junior year. Not much happened the last few weeks since even several teachers were leaving. Last couple days we just messed around.

For my commencement from ISU, I worked it instead of attending (I stood when when announced the Ag college). Afterwards I was going to go to the ice cream parlor but @VeloClone convinced me to go to this house party, drink too much, and other stuff. I should have gotten ice cream.
