NBA: *** 2024 NBA thread ***

Tatum/Brown has to be about the least intimidating big duo going. Both just seem soft and don’t have that killer/it factor to them.

And I get they won the title last year but Jrue/Horford are getting old, way to reliant on the three and Porzingis is made of glass

This is nuts. 20 point leads not being good enough baffles me.
Hard to compare to college game, due to shorter shot clock combined with longer total game length.

That mean NBA games typically end up with way more possessions than the college game; so there is simply more time for the score to ‘revert to the mean’, which is typically a tight game for talented teams at this stage of the playoffs

TH. Yet another "3 star."

Maybe someone here, can point out our 4* successes. Gotta chuckle, mostly.
Whatever, our 3* types, have made our bb and fb programs pretty successful.
The list of our 4* bombs?
Endless.

Happens quite a bit in the college game too.

Always has but seems more frequent now.

Just takes a few possessions over a 2-3 minute stretch and the lead can get chipped away at pretty quickly. Then it gets to single digits and it feels like anyone's game.

I just googled average number of possessions per game:
NBA: 102
College: ~70

So nba had about 50% more possessions per game, and if we consider a lead as relative to the number of remaining possessions, that means a 20 point nba lead would be similar to a 13-14 point lead in college

I couldn't find much on how much that's changed/went up over the years.

I guess my main point being either lead isn't a guaranteed win especially in the 3rd quarter of NBA or like 10 minutes in a college game.
