The flaw in that plan is the $ to retain those top players (though probably lower than purchase new) might still be outside our pay grade.
Or hack the BYU checking account.

Yeah I've noticed the majority on Gopherhole seem to have a positive view on ISU. I did get a laugh that the Iowa fan on there is trying to put Ames down; I guess not enough Chads from "Chicago" for his liking.

I thought Donald Glover was related to Danny for years. More because of similar profession than anything else. Like if a younger actor was coming up named Pitt, Law, or Damon.
Many actors use pseudonyms. Would be hard to know with that as well.

Some of my best friends in college grew up in the Twin Cities. ISU was and continues to have great pipeline up there.

The Iowa State campus tour shows very well compared to the old urban campus in Minneapolis. Madison is also very popular but harder to get into and diehard gophers won't become Badgers, but are willing to become Cyclones

Yeah, ISU has a lot of students from Minneapolis. One of my buddies from there always laughed at the claim that Iowa City was some urban paradise compared to Ames.

2 years from now:
Bateman
Toure
Mitchell
Momcilovic
Buchanan
Harrington
Wiggins
Pearson (?)

I know, this isn't how it works anymore.
Williams and Pleta too

To be fair, it hasn’t worked that way in a long time. Teams are never as deep as it seemed two years prior when every recruit is believed to be a hit.

Thanks for including these 2. I knew I was forgetting someone!

And I agree. Even without NIL and the portal, all recruits look great, until they don't. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. Sometimes the player needs a different environment or system. Sometimes they just aren't as good as they looked in high school or don't develop.

I don't our recruiting strategy has changed one bit - its just becoming even more effective.

TJ targets cultural fits from the midwest/border states, and just like getting the top 2 players out of wisconsin last year, we're starting off with the top kid in MN. First C Jones, B Jones, Heise, DWat, even Eli King or Kalscheur if you want to count that towards the "pipeline." All led by our stud assistant Kyle Green who's recruited that state his entire career!
