Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

BYU is going to overshadow their brand here in the upcoming years. A move to the B1G might be Utah's only hope.

I’m sure that fan has great sources, but the BIG grabbing the little brother in the state of Utah, a state with similar population as Iowa despite record growth, seems like something to bet against occurring

If Salt Lake continues to add more professional sports, along with Whittingham retiring, and Utah no longer benefiting from a weak PAC, a lot of bearish conditions for the Utes

Another Nebraska, but without the history

The B12 renewed with ESPN and Fox because they didn’t get a competitive bid from anyone else and the reason why is that other bidders don’t get CFP access like any other rational sports entity would do to max out the value of their rights.
The B12 jumped the line renewed before their window was actually open. They had to do that with espn and fox, while still under contract.

Even if they had waited there are two windows, if I remember correctly, an earlier one with existing partners and a later one that you go to open market to see "official" offers from new broadcasters that B12 is not currently under contract with.

As far as CFP that was silly they didn't go to open market and get top dollar. Maybe they did hear some unofficial offers and thought staying put was best?

Yes, and to avoid being the PAC, trying to find a deal with the two biggest buyers NOT interested. That’s asking for being eliminated as a conference

It’s NOT true that a lack of the CFP is what’s causing other networks to bid less.

Networks bid more for the regular season when they’re forced to buy the regular season if the networks want some of the postseason. That’s different than what the previous poster is mistakenly spreading

And ESPN got the CFP in part because there was tepid interest outside of ESPN and Fox for college football postseason. So no surprise the regular season market was fatally low outside ESPN/Fox, as PAC found out

There wasn’t much premium interest in the non-P2s regular season because there are only so many premium TV windows and college football fans. The PAC12 and Big 12 will be going up against the P2 on those windows if not on Fox/espn, and no provider wants to bet on that going well.

How could Yormark call the bluff of these fans here? Make their AD publicly kiss his ring at media day? Put all games on ESPN+ for their fan base being embarrassing? Or better yet, work out a deal to put Utah games on BYU’s network?

You all realize this is from message board geniuses, a page that regularly makes fun of unhinged and flat out absurd message board posts. It’s their whole gimmick.

Utah isn’t going to the big ten
They had me at. Because I'm telling you this is a burner account, what I have to say must be true.o_O

Utah is probably somewhere in the next 10-15 teams to get a Big10 invite!

Yes, everyone realizes that, hence joining MBG in making fun of the post on the Utah forum.

You should realize this is more than about Utah’s longstanding delusions than the singular post on the Utah forum that MBG highlighted

Utah is one more bad season away from being a MW team if they keep up the antics. Teams have to prove they can compete in the NIL era. I'm looking at you Utah, Arz., and Oklahoma State. it also isnt a good look when Scott Frost at UCF has to kick in 500000 of his own money to retain a player.
