Jefferson NOT gone.

GOT was one of the greatest TV shows ever. Until season 7. Hey, is Jefferson staying or going? :)

This doesn’t give you an exact answer, but you should be able to read between the lines there. I’m not subscribed to 247 anymore so unsure of any details but I’d say that’s very positive.

I don't think that most people who supported players getting paid imagined the wild west scenario that it quickly became. This goes way, way beyond the value of name, image and likeness.

I doubt that there is a single player out there that has sold enough in advertising, endorsements or merchandise to equal the value of what they are being paid, and I doubt any are particularly close.
It's not that people didn't see it coming. It's that they don't care. (At least that's how I feel)

The current situation is capitalism at its finest. Supply and demand.

People don't have to like it, but under the current laws, this is the way it has to be. State governments and the court system have found that the restrictions on player movement and compensation that the NCAA wants to enforce are illegal.

Yeah, it might hurt Iowa State in some circumstances. That's definitely a possibility. But those are the risks that you have to take.

Social media isn't real. You don't know those people, why do you care if they think you're less of a fan? I'm old school, I think you're less of a fan because you're an incessant complainer and doomer.
It deserves to be complained about, the sport is becoming a mockery of itself and is getting worse at an exponential rate every year.

I dont really complain about much else except maybe my Cubs every once in awhile. I dont really follow college football like i used to, I still like the NFL so have minimal complaints there, I don't watch the NBA and definitely would never getting involved in the politics stuff before.

I don't get why fans, schools and players can't just embrace the pro wrestling approach to college sports. You're making tons of money, lean into the fan sites, talk ****, be a heel, drive fan engagement, take a bigger cut, and away we go.

I'm not advocating for losers harassing players or families on social media. It's crap, and those are losers with mental health problems.

But that **** is going to happen, and it's going to be magnified with a bunch of money get thrown at a bunch of one year free agent mercenaries. It's only going to keep getting worse so lean into it.

I think we need the next Charles Oakley to come up the ranks and just want to be hated by everybody except for your own fans. I think that kind of dude would make some SERIOUS bank.

The Hanson Bros strategy?

One NIL funding opportunity is consumables. Cyclone beer, weed, pizza, sandwiches, fireworks. I am not a drinker, but I bought Hilton Magic beer this Christmas. $12 for a six pack of fermented dog urine. For an extra $.25 , they could have actually used flavorful ingredients.
Pretty sure Hilton Magic wasn't a NIL beer. Ames Lager and blood round by WestO are the NIL beers. They are both pretty solid.

Audi is the only one that I see on TV doing any local or regional endorsements.

Exactly. NIL is being paid to advertise for a business, sell your t-shirts, hats, jerseys, and profit from your social media dealings. It isn't pooling money in collectives to buy players just to go to a certain school.

These guys and girls could and should be cleaning house in social media. The money being thrown around there is mind blowing. Just did a tax return for a regular college student who does social media influencing and the amount of money made me seriously consider changing my career. Seeing what this regular kid is making (you guys wouldn't believe me if I told you and then you'd be pissed at your life choices lol) opened up my eyes to what celebrity athletes are making.
So how many followers did she/he have?

FWIW, CW just said on Two Guys that Jefferson would likely be a Cyclone next year. I guess that means that rumors that someone was going after him hard are true, but it sounds like we might be able to fend them off.
Yeah, heard that too. My one "complaint" about the discussions on these shows is sometimes CW acts like he truly doesn't know some of the moving parts....but I can't believe that when his friend/employee runs the collective that is having to know some of these moving parts. I get it, can't share exact details and sometimes the money making model is to have premium info elsewhere.....but also the traffic to sites like this does benefit them all too (sure, gotta deal with burners and social media stuff, but also that also drives interest).

I just have to try and remind myself how much of this was happening behind closed doors before. At least now everyone starts from level. From there, it comes down to how much you can get fans to commit, which in our case may not be what other schools can, but at least everyone has the same chance.

I mentioned this early but he said on his pod with Hassel the other day something to the effect of "I know there are players that have been committed for months that are backing out of their commitments because the market has changed and they are worth more than they thought (paraphrasing)". He didn't say this was about Iowa State, or even Jefferson for that matter, but it seems pretty dead on to this situation.

I don't think there's any upside to revealing information before the deal is done.

I don't think it's wise for CW to run with rumors only to have them turned around.

True, though I don't think that current law nullifies their ability to forge contracts that stabilize the process.

Agree, and CW keeps telling us that it would ’blow your mind’ if we knew how much TCU and Creighton paid for the ex-hoks. Not being related to ISU, why are these numbers so secretive?

Knowing how much TCU paid for Harding would probably galvanize how stupid this entire scheme is. That dude should be paying a school to play.
