Agree with all of this. Except Lipsey is a better defender. Stirtz is a better shooter and is 6'4.

From a defensive perspective, I probably agree that Lipsey is better as a whole, but I’m not convinced it’s a wide gap. Both are blessed with great instincts. It’s like they can see 2-3 moves ahead of everyone else at times. They just know where the ball is going to be. I think Lipsey gets caught out of position more often than Stirtz does.

Just adding some numbers in here. This is based on Barttorvik's returners data (transfers out are marked with asterisks, and I removed them for the data below).

Obviously, all of this is pending changes, and Barttorvik may not be entirely updated. It marks Milos Uzan as entering the draft, but I haven't seen that yet. However, teams like Tech and BYU are also subject to drop if Toppin or Demin decide to enter the draft.

Also, Heise and other COVID returners aren't included yet here.

Based on total PORPAGATU! returning, Iowa State is 4th in the conference behind BYU, Tech, and Cincy. Based on total BPM returning, Iowa State is also fourth, switching out Cincy for Houston. Very solid in terms of returning production, especially considering Iowa State doesn't have a "star" returning, like some of those other teams may have.



You'll note that WVU and Kansas aren't listed above. That's because they have zero returners who played at least 10% of their minutes.

We do have a top 20 roster right now but the staff is looking to compete for the B12 title.

If the staff was just looking to fill a back up PG role they would trust the freshman to play 10mpg.

I believe they are looking for fill the starting SG with a combo guard to play 25mpg (Rohde up until Monday) to make the jump to a top 10 team like last year.

The plan hasn't changed in my mind, 1 year starting level combo guard preferably consistent 3 pt shooter to compliment Tamin and open the post for Jefferson.

What is our plan now that we lost Rhode? We need a guard who can get a bucket like Cujo and Keshon. If the roster stays as is, we are a bubble team. Sad. Would love the Princeton Kid but he'll demand too much money.

I think Williams fills one of those roles (how well is obviously TBD, but he looks capable). For the other, if we decide to go for a big with the last offer, then we'll need one of the freshmen to step into that role. Either way, Lipsey, Momcilovic and Jefferson are the stars that we're building around for next year.

He is a nice player and will do fine at the high major level. But ranking him as the number 1 or 2 player in the portal this year is laughable. This is why no one should get bent outta shape about missing this highly ranked player or that highly ranked player. Scouting is a crap shoot.

To add to your position on Bennett Sturtz, what seems to make him special is it is difficult to speed him up offensively. He reminds me of Jokic and Luka, in that they both are not easily sped up. They force the defense to play at their pace. I would characterize Sturtz's game as having a European flare to it.

I expect the turnovers will be reduced next season. Jefferson get a full off season to work on his game, which he did not get last year, will help tremendously to solidify his handle and work on what to do when to double team comes. It was basically those two areas of his offensive game where he struggled.

Freeman shut it down early from an injury and was not coming back. Iowa had no NIL money. The guy running their NIL had to pay out some of the promised money out-of-pocket. Freeman knew what he was worth on the open market.

Not even close. When Murray State came to Des Moines coach Prohm put a 6'7" forward on him and he really struggled. Murray State beat Drake that game.

He will be facing more of those type of athlete's every game in the big ten.

This is a terrible take. You cherry picked one of his worst games of the year.

He had 21, 17, 16, 22, 21, and 21 against Miami, FAU, Vanderbilt, K-State, Missouri, and Texas Tech. I'm sure all those teams have plenty of athletes that can guard him.

Duke has 3-4 other first rounders. His team might win the national title. I will be really surprised if he does better than Chet Holmgren in the NBA
