Our style of play isn't sustainable over the long course of a season. Always seem to fade towards the end of the season because we're too tired and injured.
Makes me think of our closest comp, Houston. What has happened to their tournament runs recently?

Marcus Sasser- injured for March
Jamal Shead- injured for March
Roberts - injured for March

TJ can only do so much. At the end of the day the kiddos have to go out there and play and play their asses off. TJ can scream and yell and motivate all he wants but he’s not on the court.

I think the team was fine but I'd guess TJ was at his last nerve throughout the season with turnovers, communication, etc.

I think in general we have over-estimated our talent. Milan, he has one good game for every 3 games? He isn't the go to scorer we want him to be, too passive, not strong enough physically / mentally to be the go to guy. That doesn't mean he is a bad player, but he is just ok.
It's part of CF and Cyclone culture. ISU has a good team with good players and a good coach and a GREAT fan base. I love the boys, and I am sorry they are getting nut-cupped tonight. However, this was just never going to be a Final Four National Championship team. Injuries hurt and stuff like that, but even with the best of situations advancing past the Sweet 16 is not for sissies. Oh well, not really bummed. I love ISU, Cy, etc. and look forward to next year, but tonight does not surprise me at all, as I never expected this to be more than a Sweet 16 team. Turns out, they just missed that by a game. Life goes on. Let's Go State!

Quit blaming the season on one shot. If that killed the season, then these players are the weakest minded players to ever play the game.

Yeah, that was all coincidental. If anything it was more the WVU game- after that the book was kind of out there on how to beat us.

Maybe I’m imagining things but I am dubious that Mississippi has NIL money to burn.

They are the Iowa of their state though (medical school, lawyers) so maybe? But that state is really, REALLY poor. Arm wrestles with New Mexico for 49th/50th in most economic/educational metrics.

@clonedude so tell me why he doesn't play? TJ just doesn't like him? I highly doubt it. He clearly isn't good enough. Whether it's passing, ball handling, I don't know. It's something though. Even when injuries happened he didn't get minutes.
I don’t know, but if I had to guess it’s because he does not bring it in practice to the level that TJ demands. Otherwise I have no clue how Kelderman get mins over him??

I hate to say it, but I think Gilbert killed this team. Something really has not been right with him for a while now. Not just injuries, but attitude too IMO. And being ruled out for the entire tournament and not even traveling with the team is not normal at all. Something has not been cool there and the team’s performance has shown big time.

That combined with Lipsey being injured, and this team’s chances at doing anything in this tournament were cooked. It sucks!!

And I’m not sure the fans will be able to keep this thing going either in this age of NIL…. and don’t blame them at all if they can’t. College athletics pretty much sucks anymore. Good night all!
