Well EIU gets their backup. Actually probably better than WV and being in our conference.
I dont know how he knows lol but thats a decent source. Ben to Iowa City.
Rarely can you change jobs in that industry and not have to move and JR wouldn't have to.
I agree. I was conservative on purpose. NW Iowa has some land going for $20-$25,000 an acre. You’re a little light on what a 1,500 acre farm would be worth in quite a few parts of Iowa.
But yes, a lot of people don’t realize how many older farmers and widows are walking around with $10m+ net worths. Now once they pass and pass it on to their kids and grandkids it gets divided up quite a bit.
Doctors and lawyers make farmers look aggressive on donations. It’s not about converting it to cash. Most in life donations come from income that real estate, financial investments, and company ownership generate. The major difference is that farmers (and engineers too) tend to be more financially conservative than other groups of people. People in other walks of life tend to be much looser with their money and give it freely to something that is mainly for entertainment or ego, like college athletics.
ForIt matters. There is a very strong correlation between high net worth, and the ability and tendency to spend whatever cash you do have on low ROI things
Nevertheless, your point is valid in the sense that the collective wealth of the segment of ISU’s base that is in agricultural is asset based…in an asset that tends to rarely be liquidated.
Will the passing of the Boomer generation change that? Has there ever been a time in which so much no/low debt land will be transferred to the next generation, a much smaller one in terms of population interested in farming?
For every TJ Otzelberger there are 2 Todd Lickleiters or Keno Davises, so even if they hire him, it's still a crapshoot
But a year ago he was probably making less than $100K and this year he's making $900K, so could he wait a year for a better option? Just thinking out loudWas hoping Ben mc would end up at wv or somewhere….. we’ll see how he does in ia ****** going to have to buy a whole team and I doubt if the Sukeyes have that much cash.
But, he comes really cheap…. They got off Fing lucky. He wasn’t making much at drake so any increase will sound good
He’s a good coach. If he can get some talent to go to Iowa city, he will do well there. I actually would’ve preferred devries get the job there as I feel as though BM has a better chance of turning it around for the long haul.Couldn't make eye contact when asked.
His team was impressive but he still has to get dudes to win.
He had kind of weird small ball mismatches all over but I'm not sure how sustainable that is at the P4 level.

His offensive system is much less complicated than McDermott’s and runs a lot of actions that you see in the pros. If he’s any good at marketing, he’ll be able to sell that to recruits. It kind of seems like McDermott to Iowa State. I'm not convinced he'll be successful there, but we'll see.
Unfortunately, the top recruits will be asking about a different type of action. His offensive system is much less complicated than McDermott’s and runs a lot of actions that you see in the pros. If he’s any good at marketing, he’ll be able to sell that to recruits.
I don’t disagree there but you don’t need the top blue chip recruits to win.Unfortunately, the top recruits will be asking about a different type of action.
