If DeVries went into this supposed meeting with Beth and found out the NIL is a particular ceiling and it's not what he thinks he needs I can 100% see him saying no. That being said I think he will be named as Iowa's coach.

Unless Beth has promised that some big time donors will pony up millions if he accepts the job

He should but nothing is guaranteed. It's the best and smartest hire they could hope for.

I was hoping he'd be "the one that got away" from Iowa.

WVU nabbed him before Iowa was smart enough to fire Fran.

DDV happy in Morgantown/sees Iowa as a lateral move/what he really wants is Creighton. Why make another move when you can wait for McD to retire and then go back to Omaha?

I guess all this maneuver did was make it so Iowa has to write WVU a big check.

I think McCollum and Devries is a wash. Both capable coaches. Either Iowa gets their NIL figured out or they will both end up being Fran like. That’s the reality. They don’t have to be a top 10 nil team but middle of the pack with good coaching would work

Ruh Roh, Indiana called McCollum and he said dont talk to me till after tourney, Indiana panics and called Devries and offered double the NIL. Now Devries is dreamin of prime time games in Assembly Hall. Beth is panicking offering to reno Carver. All a theory.

McCollum is the better coach.

DeVries would drum up more support and NIL I would imagine.

Who the hell is even option 3 at this stage? Is there a world where DeVries gets Indiana and McCollum doesn’t want Iowa? I mean the guy was pretty dang calculated about when and where he made the jump from DII. Would it be a shock if he said now to trying to rebuild that program, especially if he was the 2nd choice?

I would imagine one of the two will take it. The nil and the carver crowd and carver itself might be a reason for McCollum to wait for a better job

The list starts to get weird after those two.

Probably Jans, Wardle and Forbes and they all have some serious on and off court warts.
