You can’t really do anything when someone is always on their knees.
As mentioned, really hard to attack a guy when he's on a knee. Angelo, Drake & Paniro all do it very effectively but it doesn't make for interesting wrestling. I'd like to see a 3 second count lead to a stall call.

Plott's problem last night was that he wanted to attack like good wrestlers do. I bet John Smith would have coached him to wait a Ferrari out. Back off & make Angelo come to him. But that's not Plott's style. And I agree, the ref did Okie St zero favors last night. Major Carver job.

With all that said, Angelo is really really good.

PS. I wonder what Ferrari/Arnold going at it in the room looks like. That staring contest must drive T&T crazy.

Yes, Angelo is incredible. Bona fide stud.

The problem with a count on the knees is guys will be able to game it. Drop until the count get close and then pop back up for a half a second.

I think we just need to have refs do a better job at being consistent match to match on what they are calling a stall. That's the most frustrating part of last night. If you don't want to call a stall on a guy with a leg/ankle ride okay that's fine but you damn well better not call it the next match on the other team.

What would you propose to fix it? I agree Biscoglia was a nightmare to watch with it, but I have never had an issue watch Angelo wrestle the way he does. However, Angelo is really the only one that I have seen be effective with getting to shots consistently from his knee

How many shots did Ferrari take in regulation? I didn’t count, but it seems like maybe 1 or 2 in 5 minutes. He was able to get more off in OT when Plott was charging at him more.

Anytime you’re on a knee for more than 1 second when not engaged with your opponent it is a stall.

I'm not a huge wrestling guy but stalling seems pretty simple. If it looks like stalling to me, I will check the board and everyone will be calling it stalling. I know everyone in every sport wants the justification for every call to be black and white but stalling won't ever be that way. If it looks like a guy is actively trying to not let any action occur, call stalling.

So when Angelo's picture is in some future wrestling Hall of Fame, instead of the usual standing crouch, he'll be down on one knee reaching up. LOL. I was hoping Plott would win but Ferrari is good.

So, what rule change would you propose to fix it?

More of a point of emphasis.

Although in my opinion we need to get rid of stalling altogether and move to a system like freestyle with shot clocks, push outs, and cautions. Stalling is far too subjective and can change meet to meet, ref to ref, and even match to match.
When you have 13,000 mouth breathers yelling “stalling!!!” for 3 hours, it’s going to influence refs.

As depicted last night in Iowa City.

Ref doesn't call it stalling in one match, the next match calls the same thing from the previous match stalling, and then the next match doesn't call it stalling. That's inconsistent and no casual fan is going to understand it. Hell my wife has been going with me for years to duals and she will from time to time say to me why aren't they calling a stall they are doing the same thing as the last match....and I have to turn to her and go yeah idk

Not exactly sure.
Knee wrestling did not take off heavy until Robles did well. Difference is, Robles couldn’t help it, he had to. It’s something where a count needs to happen like ankle holding.

Lol at Iowa having a 4x
If Ferrari is their best at 184, it makes sense, all things considered, that he should go this post-season. Iowa has a formidable line-up. Not that I think they'll beat Penn State, but they could make it competitive w/Ferrari in there. With him, they have a good shot at six semi-finalists (133, 149, 157, 165, 184, 197) and possibly two other AAs (174, hwt).

One other consideration is the brands are what? 56? They probably have 8-10 years in them? They are in a win quickly mode. They have two more “recruiting waves” (back to back 4 year guys) for each weight outside of portals. With OSU making big changes, Iowa going to have to bring everything in order to not drop to a 2B tier of Michigan, Ohio State, ISU and a couple others.
