I know the season isn't over yet, but with the news that Ech will be medically redshirting this season it only makes me wonder what next year's lineup will be.

Here's my best guess:
125 - Adrian Meza/Christian Castillo
133 - Evan Frost
141 - Anthony Echemendia/Jacob Frost
149 - Casey Swiderski/Paniro Johnson
157 - Paniro Johnson/Cody Chittum
165 - Connor Euton/MJ Gaitan/Aiden Riggins
174 - MJ Gaitan/Transfer
184 - Sawyer Bartelt/Tate Naaktgeboren
197 - Sawyer Bartelt/Transfer
HWT - Yonger Bastida
Swiderski at 49 Paniro at 57 Chit at 65 Gaitan at 74

The dream is we can lure Novak from Wyoming at 97. Would be a huge addition and Ames would be closer to home for him.

I have to hope we see Castillo at 125 and I think it goes frost frost ech chittum at 133-157. I also think you have to swing for the fences for transfers at both 174 and 197. There are several guys who we should be able to make offers to.

Probably time to move on from Gaitan. Had a couple good wins recently, but today's performance reinforces my belief.

Gaitan has been in a unique position where he has never had serious competitors for his spot seemingly, then the one time he dropped down to 165 to face a relative unknown he lost the wrestleoff. I've always been a big fan of Gaitan and think he's fun to watch, but he can't just have this default spot with nobody else seriously competing for it anymore as the results aren't there. Lots of high end 174 pounders out there, this is an obvious spot to spend whatever NIL money we have (probably second priority after 197 imo).

I think that’s a great assessment. He has enough top end talent and ability to go big that it intrigues you to keep hanging on for it all to click and become a complete package. Still young so I’m not throwing in the towel but agreed we have to take top talent in the portal wherever we can get it

The unfortunate part is seeing a guy like Simma develop into a bloodround/low AA guy from where he started.

MJ I believe has more high end ability, just whether or not he ever cracks into it is yet to be seen.

The headscratcher for me is Riggins. The guy is really good in the room, hell he can give Chittum all he wants and more. Then he gets on the stage and just sucks it up. Iowa St has to get better at 165-197 next year. Euton is tough and if he gets back to where he left off, he is gonna be the guy. I am not sure about the rest of that lineup.
