Fallout from the Doncic trade

Maybe? Idk I don't personally know the guy. That's not really the point I was making
One of my bigger pet peeves in life is when people just “hate” or talk **** about strangers they’ve never met. It’s so weak and most would never say any of it to their face.

Best explanation I've seen is that the new owners are purposely trying to tank because the Texas legislature refuses to allow sports gambling, so now they are trying to lose all fan support so that they can threaten to move the team to Vegas as leverage. There's just no basketball reason to trade a top 3 player who hasn't even hit his prime.

NBA just needs to start two new franchise. Seattle and Vegas. Quit making owners take teams from good fan bases to Vegas. The only reason they possibly could have traded him is because the didn't want to do the super max deal. However, they could have shopped him league wide and got a way way way better deal. I am confident the NBA asked them to trade him to the Lakers with Labron almost done. LA always needs a star on that team.

I think there has to be more going on with Doncic. I know they weren't happy with his conditioning, but they were in the conference finals last season.

Also, it would be hilarious if Dallas won it all this year.
Yeah, that isn't happening.

Since the trade, Davis and Gafford have sustained injuries that will keep them out of action for 4 weeks or more. Lively was injured prior to the trade and he may not be available for the rest of the regular season. So their top 3 bigs are now out for most, if not all, of the remaining regular season.

The trade also now makes Kyrie their only lead premium ball handler and the first example of that role overload was exhibited last night with him playing 44 minutes in an OT game. And he is playing with a bulging disk.

They will be lucky to even make the play-in games.

They aren't moving to Vegas.

I thought the basketball reason was they didn't want to have to potentially pay him a max contract next season.
Is that basketball reason though? That's just a being cheap reason. He's a top 3-5 player in the league. 29 other teams would have signed him to the super max if they were in the position to do so.

You have a point. But I can also say I have never put dog poop in my mouth and yet I'm pretty confident I wouldn't like the taste. I do think you are right that people can get carried away with doing that. That phrasing and mentality should be used a lot less than it is but sometimes you still know.

It’s in real life too. Maybe I’m is just overly discouraged by the way I feel society is going lately but just today I’ve read here that

**** Vitale = Douche
Mark Cuban = Douche
Anyone who says Duke or a SEC team is good = douche
Nearly every coach in America not named TJ Otzelberger = douche.

Just my opinion, no one has to agree. It just screams a person has a weak mentality.

Yea he was still under contract another year and they didn’t want to negotiate a super max early I think is what I read.

Cuban doesn’t own the team anymore I believe and he’s a major doucher so that part doesn’t surprise me.
About 36 hours ago, Cuban offered to pay in full the cash price for this man's liver transplant that Anthem was deeming "not medically necessary"
Anthem reversed their stance about 24 hours later after the story went viral

New owners were enamored with Davis. They wanted him to win now and that’s why they didn’t shop around. And they didn’t want to pay Luka the super max, so now was the time to deal him.

It’s just crazy the NBA rules means a trade that Luka didn’t ask for resulted in him losing the ability to get a super max deal now. So he lost roughly $100m due to no fault of his own.
It's not entirely no fault of his own. There are a lot of rumors that management has become really frustrated with his lack of commitment to training and conditioning. He has developed the nickname of Hookah Doncic.

Yes, and you can tell me someone who you think is douchey and I can find a good deed they have done. Different people have different opinions. I’m not a fan of Cuban in general, but that’s me.

Yet he was still one of the top 5 players in the league. So, either it wasn’t as bad as the hit piece is making it out to be, or the rest of the league’s conditioning is equally as bad, or conditioning doesn’t really matter that much. Which one is most likely?

To quote Ryen Russillo “ I don’t care if he dribbled up the court with a cigarette in his mouth, I still wouldn’t trade him”

Like most people, he’s probably a mixed bag, but his Fallen Patriot Fund has helped many people, including a teacher my kids had who lost part of a leg. He has more than this one good deed.

I have a hard stance that wife-beaters are douches
