I haven’t followed the NBA super closely for the past couple of years, but seems like most people’s reactions are aligned with my thoughts when I saw the news. What the heck is Dallas doing?
Never been more shocked by a trade. Can’t believe the Mavs didn’t get a better return.
I don’t think this works out for LA either. 2 ball dominant players who play zero defense,
This really is baffling. I thought LeBron and Davis complemented each other really well. Seems like both teams got worse.
Doncic isn't eligible for a supermax now.

I don't think he is but if managament is constantly telling Doncic to get into shape and he won't, it could have been the last straw.

I think Doncic is a primma donna, overrated, and will not win a championship with his current play style.
That said, not sure what Dallas is doing. They could have got way better value for Doncic who is literally a top 5 trade asset in the NBA, if other teams knew he was available.
This is a home run for the Lakers. Gives them a young, brand name player to build around once LeBron is gone. Keeps them in the headlines for the foreseeable future

It’s definitely not about LeBron and Luka working. It’s about the next 10 years for LA. They now have their star to build around going forward. They probably got worse in the short term, but don’t think they care about that because they weren’t winning a title with the current roster anyways.
