NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Having won MVPs in both the SBs and who he beat are certainly going to makes his case because he has even fewer regular season awards than Rivers.
Having the last name Manning will get him in. If his name was Eli Jones we probably aren't having this conversation. And don't get me wrong I like the guy and think he was a hell of a player

Well, if his name wasn't Manning, he's probably on the Chargers, not New York, to start his career, but two rings is two rings.

As it was, he was a good player, not great. He had a virtually injury free 16 year career which allowed him to amass a lot of bulk stats. Only one truly elite-ish season, never posted a rating above 94 for the season, finished his career barely above .500 including playoffs. In almost every way possible, he was a worse Rivers, except the SBs.

We're talking about player personnel right? I mean Andy is probably the best offensive mind in NFL history but exactly how many titles did he have before 15 got to town. He's becoming more than a generational talent. He could be once in a lifetime.
Are we talking at this moment, after Mahomes has worked under Smith and Reid for 7 years? Maybe you're right, just like Tom learned along the way as they were winning as an organization. Then Brady went and did it on his own.

That said, it's hyperbolic to trade Mahomes for the Eagles top 15 players and think Chiefs don't dominate that matchup.

I mean I wouldn't have traded Jordan or probably Babe Ruth either.

I agree with everything youre saying but at some point everyone has to agree there is a big difference between guys like Elway/Montana and Eli Manning/Terry Bradshaw. Maybe there needs to be a "penthouse suite" in the Hall of Fame or something. Reggie White or Bruce Smith compared to Steve McMichael. I'm big on a point system. I mean anyone that was all-pro(either team)5+ years in mind is in probably. I don't necessarily think someone who goes to 7-8 pro bowls is in. Other marks get you points like 100 sacks, leading the league in passing or passing could get you points, or being an NFL career leader. While I do think 70% of the people who make it deserve it there are a lot of guys that imo were just really good players. They will get their due from their respective teams HOF or Ring of Honor.

The Ravens and Bucs both had bad QB’s, or “game managers” would be a better term before the Brady era. But the game and rules have obviously evolved since then as well.
Dilfer was a game manager to the fullest. While Flacco wasnt ever a top 5 guy he was still a solid level above Dilfer or Johnson. He was a pro-bowl caliber guy. A B+ QB

One reason the Chiefs are able to have the roster they have is their minimal dead cap hits. I think it's one of the lowest in the league. Have to use your money and use it wisely. I could see them letting it play out with Taylor.
Plus we are weak at tackle and he’s by far our best. Altogether he’s roughly league average RT. We’ll ride out his contract since we’re getting value and no heir apparent to replace him.

Mahomes salary will always be high enough that it doesn't look totally nefarious but I can guarantee you the Hunts have told him regardless of what you are making from the team you'll be the richest QB in the game. Besides signing bonuses and endorsements he seems to be buying a share in everything in KC. While I'm sure he wants to be paid what hes worth in one way or the other that guy couldn't give a **** less what his actual salary looks like on paper compared to other QBs. He wants to win and he's great in the community. I get the "Chiefs fatigue" from people who aren't fans but he's as good of a person as he is a player.

The real season finally starts today! Offense needs to get the ball out quick. Defense needs to make Hurts throw. Should be a heck of a game.

Here I have been a Chiefs fan for 41 years and never even knew it. Been wearing that jersey since 1984.
(actually I do like the Chiefs, just tired of them getting the breaks/calls)

The mindless internet groupthink about this is so ridiculously stupid. There are a lot of jealous whiners out there.

So you've like a team for 41 years but now you are ok with them losing because you can't handle people complaining about officials??
Weak.
