Hy-Vee's weirdest business decision yet?

If I’m being generous, I think her logic was: it’s not a meal without rice. If you just want two entrees, I can only sell you a pint of each.

I pleaded with her for a few minutes to get her to understand that it cost them less to give me the two entree meal minus rice. But she wasn’t getting it. I finally just said “two entrees with white rice.”

Did you then take the boxes of rice and ceremoniously dump them in the trash can right in front of her?

I just got HyChi earlier this week and they’re actually offering noodles as an option instead of rice. Never seen that before.

Making you pay extra for no rice is just dumb, unless they think you want extra entree in the space where the rice goes.
Last time I was there a few weeks ago they had "plain" lo mein. I'd never seen that before, they usually have veggie lo mein. But this time it was plain, literally just lo mein noodles. Kind of weird, but I just got the beef and broccoli and combined the two when I got home. Love me some beef lo mein.

About the only time I go to Hy-Vee is for their liquor sales, which is at the Lincoln Center store. Once in great while, I'll get Hy-Chi and if they have pork shoulder or brisket on sale, other than that not really a fan, especially when I live 1/4 mile from Walmart.

Right... They are essentially saying we knew we were gouging you the past several years, but please come back
Chasing marginal dollars over the competent core business strategy that built the business. You hate to see it, but you see it all the time in companies their size.

I went to the Hy vee in North Ankeny the other day and noticed they got rid of the self checkouts

I was going to post the same thing. I despise Hy-Vee from a professional level to a consumer level. I can't believe they think people buy into their BS.

I was always a Hy-Vee consumer but they have lost me over the last 6 years. I will go on to grab hot deals and one off's and that's about it. It's pretty pathetic that I would actually rather support Wal-Mart because HyVee has become so outrageously expensive. It's a savings I just can't ignore.
