***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

After that performance (offensively by Darnold) tonight...McCarthy has to feel confident that he'll be the guy moving forward. More elusive...strong arm...been a great leader wherever he's been...Time to grow with our franchise QB. That was their plan all along anyway.
The elusive part is the factor. If you could combine the passing ability that Darnold showed, along with being able to scramble a bit more then the offense could take another step.

Just a dumpster fire of a game for MN. I told friends up here weeks ago if MN has to go on the road in the wild card the team I wouldn’t want to face is the Rams. I would pick the Vikings over the Bucs but don’t think so against the Rams.

I actually don't mind starting off next year with DJ to keep giving JJM more time to dev, since he missed this entire season. I think I'd rather do that than force him out before he's ready, or to sign Darnold long-term.

As a Lions fan... I pray you all roll with Jones next year.

During the game I agreed, but having a bit of time and some beers to process, I think we get an A game from KOC and the offense. Mcvay protogee. He will be hyped.

That makes sense. Do you think other teams are desperate enough to give Darnold 3 years at 100+ million like others are suggesting here?
not sure. I just know after seeing Darnold tonight, the Vikings are better taking a chance with what they have, for the money he may get. Darnold was bad on an epic scale tonight. I’d have taken the fat guy in row 12 of the upper deck in the. Dr. Pepper challenge over Darnold tonight. I’m trying to think of one good throw he made and I can’t.

Darnold isn’t taking anyone to the Super Bowl. Having an of night is one thing, missing every thing you throw at is another. Play calling was an issue also, but Darnold isn’t a rookie. If he was a winner, he’d have showed more tonight, win or lose.

Darnold did miss some throws, but my god he was running for his life.

Darnold caught the Cousinitis. A no show in playoffs and showcase night time games. And somebody should return the playbook sheets that had roll-out passes and screen plays to KOC.

So just to say this out loud this morning.

VIkings are a 14 win team in the toughest division in the NFL.
Their reward?

go on the road to play the 10-7 Rams,

Lane kiffin can STFU about college.
les.
I hope the commanders beat the bucs and the packers can beat the eagles.

Fine by me. Would be back to getting the rebuild results everyone expected this season.
Lmao, guy has 36 TD passes, has a rough night on the road against the best team on football and now you're throwing him under the bus for some guy you settled for to begin with becuase you missed out on your top 5 targets.

This is why the Vikings haven't been to a Super Bowl in 50 years.

You just described Kirk Cousins, and Darnold will cost more than he did. I don't think signing Darnold now makes proper money sense given the MIN cap situation. Maybe they could tag him for next year and let him go after that? A long term commitment doesn't add up.

And if one thing is for certain around the NFL, it's to trust Chicago fans on QB decisions!

Lol. It's 1 game! Goff had a pretty rough night by his standards. 2 horrible picks and he took 2 sacks, I dont see Lions fans running him off anytime soon.

What makes you think a guy that had never taken an NFL snap will be better than a guy with 36 Tds and a 14-3 record?

The only reason you guys drafted him anyways is you didn't have high enough pick to get your top 5 choices.

Darnold earned a Franchise tag with his play. I remember the short armed pass that Cam Akers made a fantastic catch against the Packers. And then missing some wide open receivers. At the same time those are things he can learn from. $40+ million. Franchise price is the market floor. JJ McCarthy needs more time to rehab and learn until he is ready. IMO it enforces the belief that McCarthy is the future.

Needs to make quicker decisions. He holds the ball way too long when he's blitzed. Look at Goff. When the Vikings blitzed he got rid of the ball immediately. We had a couple pays with a free rusher and he still got it out and completed the pass. Meanwhile Darnold tries to scape the pocket and chucks a ball 10 feet over Jefferson's head.

Does 1 good season out of 7 mean the good seasons are here to stay? Goff had a rough half of a game and was great in the second half. He recovered well and his coaching staff helped out a ton with adjustments, something the Vikings didn't seem to do at all.

MIN did fine drafting McCarthy. You can't tell me you seriously believe O'Connell, obviously proven QB whisperer by this point, grabbed someone he didn't think he could do anything with long-term when the whole plan from draft day last year was to clear cap space and rebuild. Darnold doesn't fit into that -- he's going to cost too much. Let someone else pay him. He had a great season and should go get paid, just not by MIN. We're practically watching a carbon copy of the Keenum year, and they were also right then to let him walk.

I'm just not convinced they can't get similar production from Jones or McCarthy. I think KOC's system and the wide receivers make guys look good. Cousins also looked good here, then got benched for a rookie the first season he went to a new team.

If you're gonna pay $40million, the QB better be great because it kills your ability to build a roster around them. If someone else offers him $40million so be it. Let's see how it works out. I'd take him back for $30mill tops.
