Many in here are advocating Beer Sales, first we need to get Iowa legislature to lift the lid on Beer advertising, signage limits, and tap locations. Make POP (Point of Sale) locations based on advertising buys to the AD. No Coors revenue, no Beer taps at JTS. "Beer Brand" loyalty is a huge build area at sporting events and facilities. Just look at the sponsorships, most of us would forgo a Coors for a Bud light if the AD was making big bucks. To be competitive, bid it out every couple of years.

Of course, you are going up against a huge Beer distribution lobby!

Right now I think nearly all goes to the three you mentioned. Some will hate me, but I want FB and MBB to get 90% of it, or more. They will raise the tide for everyone and then open up funds for the other sports.
If it is "Revenue Sharing" than it should go to the sports by percentage of Revenue those sports bring each year.

If Football is 90% of Revenue they should get 90% share of the fund.
If MBB is 7% of Revenue, they should get a 7% share of the fund.
If WBB is 3%, they should get 3%.

If Gymnastics is -10% Revenue (lost money) they should get 0%.

The only question is if they go by Gross Revenue or Net Profit. Because even the biggest money losing sports have a little Gross Revenue. So in that case a sport like Swimming might get 1% or something. But even then FB would still greatly out earn the others.

That should be adjusted each year, based on that years accounting of Revenue and profit/loss.

That is the logical way it "should" work, but we all know logic many times is thrown out the window in these things.

Yes, when there are price increases and no enhancements for any but the biggest donors, the value goes down. I got MBB tickets in 2021 when we moved back to Ames. I hadn’t been in Hilton in over 30 years. The first game was like stepping back in time. The only changes were Johnny’s, a better scoreboard, and clone cones. However, since the price increases haven’t reduced the demand for tickets, it seems this will continue.

Serious question here - What the **** more do you need?

I go to bb and fb games to watch bb and fb.

I guess I don't understand all these people who need more than that. I hear "we need to enhance the experience", the experience is watching and cheering on your favorite to a win.

Not exactly sure.
Okay, Okay, here is a GREAT compromise for all the beer/no beer sales in JTS. In Cy-Town will be a convenience store (think old keg shop) and it will be stocked hard with Ames Lager and busch light. Maybe a couple other things. Now when you come in for tailgating, you must pop your trunk and get a one minute search for any smuggled in alcohol. So all alcohol has to be purchased there, you can bring in your own but will get a $5 per beer fine handed to you right there.

That should pay a large amount of NIL. You will be allowed 1 beer to carry in. Everyone should be happy with this compromise.

Im there for the game and while I love my daughter, I don't want to sit by here during the game. She is just there for social and will talk to me non stop. I love spending time with my daughter, but my favorite hobby is ISU football. I love going to the games and checking out everything going on. I don't mind some chatting during dead stuff or football questions, I don't want to discuss family Christmas when a play is going on. I don't understand those that feel they need "an experience" while there.

The title IX sports already don't get nearly the same amount of funding as football/mens basketball so it's already not "equal". How much funding do those sports need to keep in line with the law?
It goes by scholarships provided.

Because that is what it is supposed to be about, providing education equally. So you must provide scholarships equally, or at least the same ratio as the overall student body numbers.

But now it is or might be about money going to the athletes too. So I dont think they know the actual ramifications yet, until someone challenges Title IX on the matter.

thanks for sharing. Basically, footballs Revenue - Expenses = Difference is paying for every sport minus mens basketball.

ISU has one of the better Women's programs/attendances in the nation and that is their line? They lose 4.5M

crazy (but not shocked) that Gymnastics, Mens and Womens golf and Womens tennis bring in around $115K in revenue, but need $6M to operate.

What you going to cut though … pretty sure 1 has to be a male sport.
Last I knew we were actually ahead on Title IX. We could add a mens sport, or cut a womens and still be ok, depending on the sport and numbers. But would put us close to the limit, for mens. You can have xtra womens sports but not extra mens, if I remember correctly, meaning as long as you are in the green with womens sports you are good, with mens you have to be equal or less so must always be equal or in the red, per the student body ratio.

I think it’s scholarships. But if we kill one womens we probably need to kill a mens.
I believe you can use either total scholarships or percent of the school. Most use total number of scholarships for some reason or another. I would guess it stays the same, while the percent of students could change over time.

Duh!
As much as I hate having to bear the burden of these huge price increases, I don't blame Jamie for having to do what must be done to keep ISU competitive. There was a part of his message, though, that felt a little incongruent.

It's not a big deal, but Pollard states that "We have prided ourselves on not asking you for what we can get..." but then he later says they are raising women's basketball tickets prices 25% in part due to demand. Isn't setting ticket prices based on demand the same as "asking you for what we can get"?

Again, not a big deal, but it just seemed a little contradictory.
Agreed. If you are mad about the situation then be mad at ESPN, Fox, sec, big, NCAA, etc.. They have tried to destroy the B12 and Iowa State for years. We haven’t seen all the fallout yet that WSU and OSU will suffer in coming years. I’m pissed and planning to continue to support Iowa State in the face of these challenges.

I don’t know that I need anything more, it would be nice to have better amenities, though. That first game, we decided to get something to eat at the game. The choice was hotdogs. I used to live in Omaha and go to Creighton games. You could get craft beer, Famous Dave’s BBQ, Runza’s, Omaha Steak burgers, pizza, etc. The highest donors could get delivery to their seats. Creighton did this because they moved from an old facility where they sold about 6,000 seats to a new one that holds 17,000 and providing an enhanced experience allows them to be in top 20 attendance year after year. As I said, I don’t expect any change unless ISU starts having a hard time selling seats.

There are food trucks on the concourse where I sit. Not sure where you were with only hot dogs.

Not to mention, nobody has to vote on anything. All it takes is one challenge from an athletic department that sues and has the funding to see the appeals through until SCOTUS takes it up. It'll be gone in no time.
I believe schools can chose not to follow title 9 now. However, if they don't follow title 9 they are not eligible for federal financial assistance. So, no FASFA Students loans, Pell Grants, other student grants (not sure about research grants) etc. So, doubt SCOTUS would overturn it...feds put strings on Money all the time.
