2025 Athletics Update

Didnt say I couldnt afford it.

I said I cant make it pencil out anymore. I dont spend money irresponsibly.

When I can buy as good or better seats for less than my donation and season tix require, I am not going to continue to spend more for less. I can also pick and choose what games I want without feeling the requirement to go because I paid so much.

Buying tickets on the secondary market this year was significantly cheaper than paying the donation and season ticket price. So I made the decision based on that, affording is one thing, paying more when I dont get significant benefit of the increase is another.
Great, you get to make the choice that is right for you!

However you get your tickets, it is important you keep coming to the games.

Beer sales aren't as simple as snapping your fingers and it's done. There's costs and infrastructure involved and I imagine the concourses in both Jack Trice and Hilton desperately need upgrades before alcohol could even be considered being sold.

Even if the total cost of those upgrade is $2mil (which I feel like would be low), a net of $500k on alcohol would mean ISU would not be seeing those profits for 4+ years. In a time where everyone is complaining about increased costs, having the Athletic department take on even more liabilities (that are going to be very dependent on fan support i.e. unpredictable), doesn't make much sense from a financial standpoint. Especially with the big CyTown project already in progress. One rain storm or snow storm could cripple profits, and the AD has no control over that.

I get it, I do think concessions and concourses needs to be upgraded and alcohol sales should be a part of it. But just acting like it is free bonus money Pollard is maliciously leaving on the table is such a naive take.
Still doesn’t stop people from beating the dead horse. And $1 million ish is on the high end, a lot of schools don’t hit that mark when all said and done.

I just did it on this site a few months ago. If you want, look around. We have some of the highest prices in all of the B12, and most of P4. Just our ticket prices are higher than most, then our donation levels on top is higher than most. I have done the comparisons and posted all the info here, I am not going to do it again.

If you dont believe it, look it up yourself.

lol because you’re wrong.

Can we get to reseating Jack Trice and Hilton? I am a $3,750 donor sitting in $300 donor sections. Yes, I have had opportunities to move to better sections but still in sections at a significantly lower donation level.
Should be reseating every building every 3 years max. You're leaving money on the table by not doing it.

Hang on folks... this is only the very beginning of the increases fans will be seeing in the future. Not just tickets, but parking, concessions, securing your seat preference and parking preference... not to mention how much NIL money it's going to take to remain even somewhat relevant.

Hope you all are loaded and can afford it!!

I can so don't worry.

But I also don't buy a parking pass and don't buy concessions at games.

Things have been changing at light speed. Budget cuts are never easy. No one ever thinks they can handle them.

And up until like 12 months ago, this was all a facilities arms race for every program in the nation. Most college locker rooms look significantly nicer than NFL teams.

You can't really "undo" all your expensive overheads for insane facilities that you've built the last 20 years.

Finding an extra $20M in "budget cuts" in such a short period of time is unreasonable.

From my understanding, NIL is in-house with that 22MM. There will still be NIL outside but will have to go through (price Waterhouse?) a company that will act as a clearinghouse confirming the legit status that it is not just pay to play.
That’s my understanding too and I assume that things going through the clearing house are going to be like Nike contracts and local car dealerships wanting a player to do an ad.

My fear is We Will goes in house and we increase our donation and then it’s replaced by something else like the We Still Will collective

I had the deer in the headlight moment trying to buy a parking pass for the UCF game this year. It’s tough to justify a week’s worth of groceries for a family of four vs parking your car at a football game for 6 hours. I think many of us would love to continue to support the programs but the price for everything means many can only nibble (1 game a year) and it sucks.

To be clear, the parking passes are $50 through the AD. But once they hit the open market, they go way up.

You know there are many places you can park without a parking pass.

Are they really $100 now?

That's another reason for a Cyclone Club donation and season tickets apparently.....because you get guaranteed parking for something like $25 per game? Or hell, maybe it is $50 now.

Yes—-usually park off Hazel if I’m early enough. Only looked for a parking pass for an elderly relative that doesn’t get around too well.
You can get a grass spot for $25 if bought early before they sell out. But after that they go way up.

If they have a handicap tag they can get in the handicap lot for $25 too, but last I checked its first come first served and when it it full they might put you a long way away.

Went up 2-3 years ago.

You should also compare how many BB national championships they have, vs ISU.

Pretty sure the price of a Ferrari is more than a Ford too.

But we are expecting Ferrari prices for our product, it is good right now, but its not like we have a history of championships, like others that are demanding high prices.
We are not expecting, nor paying, Ferrari prices. Based on total donors, our AD is out performing the financial support it receives from fans. This is a complicated issue with many variables. I appreciate you digging into some of the details, but it comes down to asking the few for more to cover the many who aren’t participating. The AD isn’t being greedy. They are reducing their budget and raising prices to cover: $22MM for players, extension for CMC and TJ, etc..

Our peers have larger donor bases, as well as some having wealthier donors. That means we need a grassroots effort. Back when A&M was in the B12, they started a grassroots effort: The Century Club. All alumni were encouraged to donate $100 a year to the AD. They donated a ton of money and you saw there Century Club stickers all over south TX. All they got in return was the sticker for pride and to create peer pressure. From there, they grew their donor base and contributions from the infusion of new members and money.

Is your solution to not raise prices and reduce the budget? How would we be able to meet financial obligation to players and coaches. The CC donor number has plateaued and the same donors/ST holders are being asked to help. My ask that more fans find a way to support the AD in any way they comfortably can. It’s not sustainable long term with out growing the donor/ST holders. 11wins and a top 5 MBB seems like a good time to get in and help maintain our overachieving AD.

Please note that u can buy season tickets without a NCC donation. It's not that way in what all the other schools you presented.
They also have mobile pass season tickets, mini packs, Lil Cyclone club too. These are ways to access games as well, without a donation. Maybe our model accessing these tix needs to be revisited? I am not saying they should, it’s hopefully our entry point and hopefully, stair steps to donor/STs.
