As posted multiple times, Fed intervention is not only Congressional, it will be primarily Judicial. ESPN/Fox had their Venu initiative essentially shut down so it is not out of the realm of possibility that similar action by both branches could also neuter the ESPN/Fox CFB duopoly destroying 25-30 more ADs like Fox already has done with Oregon St and Washington St.
I would not base your entire argument on one judge's TEMPORARY injunction, especially this case, that has very minor similarities or attachment to realignment.

Just because a case involves ESPN or Fox does not mean it automatically affects NCAA realignment. And with that even if they force them to share some of the media, rights that does not mean they will stop any realignment from happening.

Has the courts gotten involved with ESPN basically owning the entire CFB post season for years? Have they gotten involved when ESPN and Fox controlled 90% of CFB media rights? Why would they get involved with it in the future? You say well CBS or TNT got a small sublease of content so that keeps the courts at bay. You dont think they would do that in the future too?

You are really reaching with this.

Unfortunately the people who have the sway to influence Congress are the same people who benefit most from the consolidation of wealth in the current system.

And as others have said, the regular person who thinks “UGA good, make playoffs, go SEC” have no interest in voting for someone who wants to blow that up.
UGA/SEC would not be blown up by ending the ESPN/Fox duopoly with P4 rights aggregation, bidding those rights out NFL style and restoring the SEC back to its core 10 schools. They would make more money.

You are really asking this question after all of these posts? Can you effin read?

They would get involved because of the looming possibility of 25-30 more schools, including ISU, getting destroyed by Fox's and ESPN's realignment manipulation to their benefit. Got it?

Didn't all of the remaining FBS conference commissioners vote in favor of the ESPN CFP deal and the conference payout structure?

Again... you are reaching.

You can repeat this over and over... it doesn't make it true. Any actual fed involvement that makes any significant difference is very very unlikely.

Wish in one hand, **** in the other... see which one fills up first.

According to JP, the ACC, B12 and G5 got bullied into what the SEC and B10 wanted. Since ESPN was the only bidder for the CFP extension, the overall revenue pie to be split up was far below what it should have been. SEC and B10 (i.e. ESPN and Fox) told the ACC, B12 and G5 if you don't agree to what we want, we will separate.

They got bullied into taking a pretty massive pay increase from the new CFP deal compared to what they were making before?

Link? To the underbid or threat to separate?

Wrong, JP publicly stated that SEC/B10 bullying resulted in less than anticipated CFP revenue streams for ISU and projects like the Wrestling Center had to be postponed.

JP's response was in a Bill Seals' CR Q&A with him last summer. Premium content.

The CFP underbid is the result of ESPN's being the sole bidder. Anyone can figure that one out.

Here is a non-premium link that confirms the separation threat: https://www.si.com/college-football/big-ten-sec-take-next-step-toward-control-over-college-football
No it doesn’t, here is the quote “Why would the rest of the leagues agree to such a strong-arm move? Because they clearly perceived a threat that the Big Ten and SEC could break away entirely, killing the sport as a national entity once and for all.”

They perceive a threat, not an actual threat. The other commissioners also shot down two auto bids for the Big12 and ACC.

Also “anyone can figure that out” is not a link or a proven fact about the supposed underbid. With the ratings being what they were it looks like an overbid so far.

OK, Big 10 Boy.

This post is some your best BS ever.

Even you can figure that ESPN and Fox are manipulating things to keep the likes of Amazon and Netflix out of the CFB space to their sole financial benefit. ESPN being sole bidder for the US's second most valuable TV property is Exhibit A. It was a clear underbid.

Think that was more about the settlement but it also is a direct quote from him so I’ll give it to ya. Kinda surprised he said it as the payouts were right in line with what most people predicted.

Cfb doesn’t want streaming for the playoffs my man, that isn’t hard to figure out and it’s always been the case even looking at Pac negotiations. If you thought some of the playoff ratings were rough imagine if it was on a streaming platform.

NFL has first round playoff games streamed on Peacock and Amazon. CFP can do likewise for first round games and would be handsomely compensated in doing so. Beats the hell out of having a single bidder.

And the CFP playoff ratings were impacted by foolishly going to head to head with NFL games. Which is the only reason why those games were sublicensed to WBD by that wiley single bidder, ESPN.
