North Dakota State

This is an excellent question . I know Iowa used one for years , a personal friend of my wife’s family. I can’t remember which wrestler it was that he hypnotized and the turn around was amazing .
Ryan Fulsaas was the wrestler

Again, didnt lose to an unranked guy. Carroll got mauled by Cardenas and beat by this NDSU guy no one has ever heard of. The NDSU guy just lost to an SDSU wrestler who was 1-10 last year.

Really hope Carroll can turn it around, but right now I’m really skeptical. Not just this year, but ever.
dude you are always skeptical. Carroll has not wrestled this weight in a long time, so cutting like this is new. People do not understand the weight cuts. Some of the done it their whole lives, they know they are not going to feel good wrestling. Then you got the guys that were eating the entire week and then just cut food and water off a day and they make it. Carroll to my knowledge, has not had to cut and wrestle. I am told he struggles to keep this weight down. Is he doing it right? I would bet he is not. E Frost is cutting his nuts off, and it took him a bit to get it under control, but he is wrestling better. Carroll may never figure it out, but he is not losing cuz he sucks.

Finally got around to watching this. Holy sh** Carroll. I'm not sure I've ever seen someone whom I know is a great wrestler, wrestle so poorly. Something is obviously up there and I don't buy just the weight cutting. He looked HORRIBLE.

Too much focus on trying to be like Iowa and get all these "high profile transfers" and not enough time spent developing the talent we had/have. Perryman, Kysen, Grice, Redding, Paniro, MJ, Rojas, Tate Naak, Helgeson and Hagarty have all either regressed or not done anything yet this year after spending time focused on transfers. Strange year to say the least

Sometimes wrestlers seem to peak early. With so many going year around training and against competition, there just doesn't seem to be as many surprises for finalists as there used to.

What am I missing? What highprofile transfers are we chasing? And are you not going to give credit on the "development" of Evan Frost? Casey? Ech and YB? Let me remind you, Ech was COOKED when he left OSU, and Dresser and company got him going. Are you forgetting this team finished 4th last year in the NCAAS? I am lost by this entire take. If you knew how many people hit dresser up wanting to transfer here, it would absolutely shock you. I know for a FACT, he had some smaller guys wanting to come here, pretty big names and Dresser said I am riding with my guys. Heldeson has had many injuries. Paniro just made the world team. MJ injured but had a helluva run last year. I don't know, we can just disagree on this one I guess.

Go ahead and tell. Who else besides cooper Flynn did dresser turn down? He brought in Riggins bockman and CC. How many points are these guys going to get combined at nationals? Right now it’s looking like 5 points combined between the 3. I believe that will change and they will get better, but not looking promising right now. The past year was built around fundraising to keep up with Iowa while other schools stayed focused on developing what they had. MJ was a beast at 174 now he’s a mess trying to cut to 165.

Ech was in legal trouble and still figuring folkstyle out. That wasn’t a high profile transfer they were trying to purchase to fill a gap, nice try.

Cooper Flynn wanted a guaranteed spot with no wrestleoff is what I heard and Dresser would not go for that.

Only thing I don't know - Is the injuries just bad luck or training or weight cuts? Probably a combination. Can't blame weight cuts as a reason for Ech or Bastida.
Maybe you can on Casey.
Euton, I think is bad luck

MJ, Bockman and Kysen are more minor injuries, I think.

The style of wrestling these days, knees and ankle injuries seem pretty common.

There aren't many bobs in the world...much less that want to be attached to wrestling as opposed to football/basketball.

It's gotta be hard to balance between transfers and building up your guys. What's the right way to do it? Try to get 1 or maybe 2 high profile transfers?

I think a lot of fans are just frustrated with how this season has turned out so far from injuries just being non-stop, guys like CC who we were hoping with a change of scenery would put it together right from the start, having to watch Paniro play patty cake vs what we so used to seeing last year from our guys being offense-minded....all of this coming off a trophy finish after going through all the dark days hoping that momentum would continue.

Brother, I am not here to try and convince you of anything, you have every right to believe whatever you want. I know for a FACT a 133lbr wanted to transfer here and Dresser said he was going to ride with his men. I just don't believe that we all of a sudden suck in a year and Dresser is lost chasing transfers

After this year could get a little wild. Don't the roster limits take effect next year? That could cut several wrestlers out. Also, when the NIL goes inhouse, the majority of Cardinal and Gold will have to go their also.

More than anything you proved my point with this @H82Lose these guys are guys coaches recruited and developed not bought and plugged. Plenty of other horses in the stable they recruited that aren’t getting an opportunity now

Have they decided on the NIL going in-house for Olympic sports? I thought at one time the universities weren’t really pushing to hard to take those on since a lot of places setup their own? Maybe that was just someone wishful thinking. Between you me and a wall I’d trust those running the C&G over the in house option.

I think Cardinal & Gold Collective will still be in business

The rules when the 22MM hits from the ADs is that for a NIL to give an athlete anything, it must clear the NCAA set up clearinghouse to confirm that it's not a pay to play situation.

This year especially I hear from fans (and thinking myself) these wrestlers are now being paid-like a job- to perform. I keep catching myself having much less sympathy for bad weight cuts, odd schedules, and injuries that could have been avoided.

It’s not fair to the wrestlers, but it is what is expected of them. But do the wrestlers not get paid NIL money if they lose? That is usually how getting paid in a job works.
