This might be a "hot" take, but I expect to see Rocco excel with the indoor environment. It hasn't been obvious, but I've been wondering if the wet/windy/cold conditions have had an effect on his game.
I was thinking the same thing after Sat night when he only completed 33% of his passes.

What are the odds. I graduated from ISU. My daughter, ASU. BTW the tailgating views/atmosphere at an ASU game are top notch.

Their defense is similar to KSU's against the run, and similar to UCF and Cinci's against the pass.

As far as Skattebo goes, he shouldnt scare anyone at all. He is a good back, but his YPG average is as high as it is because ASU has been able to beat up on bad defenses. Miss. State gave up 262 on the ground to him alone, AZ gave up 177, and KU and OSU gave up 335 combined. AZ, and OSU are the worst rush defenses in the B12.

For point of reference, Wyoming and Texas State gave up 111 yards to Skattebo, combined. K-State kept him under 80.

IMO, those of you going down for the game need to be prepared to party, because I dont think this game is all that close, unless ISU decides to spot ASU some points
I liked this until I read that last paragraph. I think this will be very close unless one team makes mistakes that the other doesn't.

I'm optimistic that we'll be able to put together a couple of those 5-8 minute FU drives we've put on people before (and almost did against KSU, but ended with a turnover on downs and then a FG instead of TDs).

Curious what others think. After the Iowa game I thought our FG's/PAT's were set for the next 4 years but after that miss Sat night and the bad miss against Tech (?? might have the wrong game) it's looking more like kicking as usual at ISU. Maybe he's wearing out being a rs freshman in his first season kicking or maybe it's the cold weather but I hope the game doesn't come down to needing a FG to win.

1,569 of Leavitt's 2,444 passing yards (64.2%) have been to Tyson and Skattebo. Also, Leavitt is only 11th in the conference in passing yards. As mentioned he does have a good passer rating, due in part to low interceptions. They have a good tight end in Metayer. They have completed a total of 30 passes for 453 yards and 3 touchdowns to their 2nd and 3rd wide receivers. Guillory, their number 2 WR, does have big play ability.
Im not as familiar with the latest version of QB advanced stats, but the original one would give huge penalties for INTs and also huge benefits for high completion percentage even if they were all 5 yard slants.

First and foremost, as with most games - limit turnovers and we have a great chance to win this.

Skattebo is good and will challenge our defense, but I'm encouraged with our effort against K-State. We're getting healthier and more experienced at LB and it's showing.

On offense - we need an accurate Rocco and a serviceable running game.

None of the above are givens, but it's well within our ability to make it happen.

May be wrong, but I think the miss had a very bad snap attached to it?

Also, we have fresher bodies at LB as they didn't take a full season worth of pounding.

He's at 76% on field goals for the year, which is below average but isn't awful. I believe his miss on Saturday was his first miss inside of 40 yards, which is pretty good. (He's 4-8 from 40-49 yards and 2-3 from 50+ yards.) I don't think that miss vs. Tech should affect your opinion too much, since that was really bad weather and was 50+ yards. But I agree that he hasn't been as good as many might think, since the game-winner against Iowa sticks out so much.

Still though, for a freshman kicker, I feel pretty good about where he's at and his development over the next few years.

I also hope this, but only in the sense that I hope it's because we're up two scores :p

I trust Konrardy though, and think his future outlook at the position is great. The miss vs KSU was his first miss inside 40 all season (now 13/14 for 93%). He seems rock solid between the ears too, never stringing together bad kicks or games like we've seen from some kickers in the past.

I'll be fine in that scenario if a miss means overtime. If a miss means we lose then I'll be chugging beer aggressively.

I've done a bit of analysis earlier in the season. Konrardy is acceptable as far as the last 10 years go. Contreraz and Mevis were better kickers overall, but KK is atleast as good as Assally.

KK is 54% from beyond 40+, but under 40 he's only missed one time.
