Is Watson in the doghouse? He showed last year he's fully capable of holding his own as a situational guy off the bench. Heise brings absolutely nothing to the table.
Heise made 2 excellent passes for assists during the first half run when Gilbert was in foul trouble. He can play, but needs to get comfortable on the offensive end.

I kind of expect Watson to get some minutes tonight and tomorrow.

Just get back in the win column tonight folks. Dayton isn’t a bad team and things will be alright. Very unfortunate end last night, but we had our chances to put it away but credit Auburn for making some tough threes and rebound well in the second half. I, as much as any, always lament our play without regard to the fact that Auburn is very good. We are absolutely one of the best teams in the country, we just have some things we need to clean up. The guys will learn and get better from you, you can guarantee that.

Would a neutral site win against Dayton be our best non con win last year? Seems like it would be up there

He's defending, but very little aggression on offense. Hopefully he will settle in and find his role on that end. It's definitely an adjustment going from feature guy to role player but least he's not really forcing things as he's not going to be one of the top couple scoring options in most lineups. It's very early yet though, so hard to expect a lot more right now.
Agreed. Heise is defending well, and his defensive positioning and rebounding positioning is good. He also did create at least two assists. That one drive to the bucket and dish to Chatfield for the dunk was good, but I definitely hear Werd's point that Heise needs to do more. He needs to be a threat out there to score and make the defense guard him more. I understand the deference, as he's a new man on this team that already has 3 guards above him, but we need a little more out of him on offense.

Hopefully it comes with time. Auburn was not an easy foe. Hope the guys can get the W tonight and we get a little more out of Heise and Nojus.

Also perplexed by Watson's lack of minutes, but hopefully he'll get some.

We scored 81 on a top defense, I tend to agree with CW that the defense needs to perform better and especially killing possessions by rebounding. Auburn obviously figured something out in the turnovers at the half and made our scoring more difficult as a result.

KenPom wise, our defensive numbers didn't really move... and our offense went from 29 to 21

Well, that game stung something terrible.

Saying something positive, though...

Gilbert and Jones are ******* ballers. Gilbert's foul trouble cost us the game.

Jefferson and Jackson looked the part as Big 12-level starting big men.

That game was a very high-level college game. It had the feel of a Final Four matchup.

The computers like that we hung with/almost defeated Auburn when before they seemed to be somewhat suspicious of the Cyclones' weak schedule and good-but-not-overwhelming victory margins.

Dayton is a team we "should" handle.

Take care of the Flyers, and a chance for redemption against UConn is waiting for us.

Well on my 1st Google search, it seems that you're going cougar hunting, at least from where I've always guessed your age :D

I was born in '87 and have a wife of eight years and a little girl with her.

My cougar-hunting days are long behind me (unfortunately).

I was definitely the sweet, innocent, doe-eyed ingénue a few times "back in the day" when the cougar went on a prowl and the only thing that was going to make her happy was fresh meat...

Our team profile is currently on the path for better longevity in March Madness with the offensive efficiency improving; history shows Final Four teams and national champions have a top 10-20 offensive, something we have been missing the last couple years. It's obviously early but a good start.

There’s always a give and take with the O and D numbers outside of the blue bloods or random teams that pop up with huge years (thinking Houston lately).

Our D has dropped to a lowly 15th lol but offense is top 10.

We had a few mixups on switches that I think TJ can correct.
Agree, I tend to have confidence Otz will get the D up to speed. We have more weapons, depth & potential on offense than the previous 3 seasons, not as easy to "invent" that aspect. Defense already is in the program DNA.
