Now that ACC/Pac merger is impossible in a meaningful way they offer absolutely nothing over UConn…let alone the many options we’ll have after ACC crumbles.
In a couple years the ACC will probably be looking for schools to replace whichever members leave and it feels like Utah will jump at the chance to go there, even if the money isn’t as good.
And the Big12 will be happy to see them go and replace them with any number of ACC schools that bring the same value and are actually happy to be a member of the conference.
The current situation isn’t good for anyone. They are like a cancer in the locker room and they just need to move on for everyone’s sake.
I just assume they want nothing to do with being in a conference with BYU.
I bet Yormark is already tired of this clown. You could tell in the reprimand there was a tone toward him already. Truly hope they become bottom dwellers in all sports...sucks they get an equal check from the conference.
Winner winner. Plus BYU beating them in this conference makes it even worse for them.
I think they know BYU stable in a power conference will eat their lunch and it makes them total irrational maniacs.
Remember, it was their arrogance (and crappy evaluations) that lead the PAC members to believe that they should be pulling 50MM year after the LA schools left.
Probably mad sense BYU guys took all the available women and all they left the Utes were rosy and her five sisters.
Agreed. I think you have to remember the history there. They were both in the MWC together and then when they got invited to the Pac12 and BYU didn’t, they saw that as proof that their program was superior and didn’t miss any opportunity to remind BYU of that.
Then about a decade later when BYU got an invite to the Big12 they went out of their way to denigrate the Big12 and tell every BYU fan that the Pac12 was much superior to the Big12.
Fast forward a couple years after that to the Pac12 collapsing and they have no choice but to join this conference that they had told BYU was beneath the mighty Utes and you can see why this messes with their worldview that they are deserving of something better.
This is exactly correct. For years after they joined the PAC12 it seemed like there were more PAC12 stickers on cars than U of U stickers. Being in a P5 when their rival was not was their identity.
How do we deal with this each year? In terms of trying to fill the student section seats when they are gone?
I forget.
Students had 1st chance at break tickets, but had to do individual games. The rest of the student seats get sold as individual tkts to the general public . Lots of families end up where the students usually sit. It fills up with pretty enthusiastic fans but lacks the edge of the students. IMO.
