The loss of 3 starting experienced LB’s has been the most glaring problem that Heacock has been massaging. The B12 is extremely balanced possibly excluding BYU, ex. Houston beating K St. The positive from the game was Abu Sama showing up. Jackson has been exposed in the conference and Sama/Hanson be the rotation with Jackson ISO’d in the flat w/passes or as a slot receiver. They can suck it up & make history or not. Hufford needs to play smart too, penalties came at the worst times.
Sama can run tough.

Notorious for slow starts, are the Clones likely to be even more sluggish after the bye?
Love the grinder mentality that has led to 7-0, but a sizable, early lead would be good for my mental health.
The dog would appreciate it too.

Strangely enough, the sun is about to appear over the horizon, the world is still spinning, and life continues to thrive on Earth. Reading some of the comments before I went to bed last night, I thought the world was about to end

Does losing suck? Of course. And the way they lost was frustrating. But big picture: ISU is still 7-1 and they still have a very realistic path to the big 12 championship game. If I were to tell you we would be in this position before the season started, I think all of us would had been elated.

Time to move on to Kansas. Let’s get things right again and make a push to the big 12 championship game

Go Cyclones!

Good grass is better than turf. Players slip on turf too. And they have a higher chance to get hurt on turf.
Good grass is better than turf 100 times out of 100. Is our grass turf up to that standard though? Our own players do not slip on artificial turf like they do that Jack Trice.

The only ounce of credit I will give Tech is on the TE pop pass. They clearly watched film from last year and had that ready to go because they knew we are completely unable to stop that. Last year, KU ran that play on us twice, and Texas did once. All 3 were for TDs or game clinching first downs

Lea Nelson after the game with CW summed up last night better than anyone I've seen so far when she said something to the affect.... "we didn't look like a team that was playing to WANT to be 8-0... played like it was just another game.".

I think that completely nailed my feelings about it afterwards. We just didn't look like we really WANTED it. Played with hardly any emotion... played ULTRA conservatively... and played like we were just trying to prevent losing instead of going out and taking the game and getting to 8-0.

This kind of playing has cost CMC before too. He mentioned last season sometime after the Ohio loss I believe... that he realized he wasn't giving his players a chance to go out there and just play to win the game they love to play and was holding them back from being their best.

Rocco's face after getting up off the ground following his designed QB sweep run on 3rd and 10 said it all last night... he even said... "wtf are we doing??". You could tell he wanted to go win that thing... not settle for a 50 yd FG attempt. That's what separates these kids from other kids... their competitiveness and drive to win. And at times... CMC has not allowed them the chance to shine and prove themselves. It's actually sad to watch. Let them play!

This is what happens when Iowa State does not win in the margins. The Cyclones played down, (execution without penalties) to the most penalized team in the nation- 8 penalties for 59 yards and a crucial "illegal hands to the face" that negated an interception deep in TT field position. Top the 8 penalties with 3 turnovers and we begin to see a recipe for Iowa State's first loss of the season. I would have thought the execution would have been crisper coming off of a bye week.

They pay the money for those seats... agree they can do what they want... but don't call yourselves "good fans". That's embarrassing. Same goes for anyone out slamming beers in the parking lot and not being there at the start of the 3rd qtr too.

The people in the other south endzone sections are objectively "good fans." I don't think they are calling themselves anything.

I woke up still feeling pretty mad about the game but in reality we were never going to be an at large team, we knew the road to the CFB playoff was through Dallas and that road still is in our hands with 4 games to play. Good teams have these losses all the time, look at Notre Dame vs NI. I do think it can be stated enough QBs need their security blanket and without brahmer Rocco doesn’t have that right now. You got a chance to have 2 home games if we pack arrowhead before you go out to Utah which I’m most worried about left on the schedule. You win there and you will be right in this thing in the end playing kstate for a chance to go to Dallas, if everything pans out the way it is supposed to even if us and Colorado win out I believe we will hold tie breaker. This team no matter how bad we looked yesterday is still a special team that is still inexperienced outside of a couple guys on the line and Higgins and Noel this team is mainly made up of sophs they are still learning, this team I believe will put itself in a position to be playing for Dallas come end of November

Honestly, I’m more worried about KU than Utah, and I’m not that worried about KU

that's why you buy tickets so you can go inside
Agree. Wouldn't it be awesome if the entire stadium were allowed to do that... we'd have the worst college college football atmosphere in the entire country with all the empty seats!! That would be great, wouldn't it?

I went the Gator Bowl one year (Nebraska beat Georgia), and it poured the entire game. I had Club Level seats, so I stayed inside watching the game on TV and just went outside when either team made it into the Red Zone. Just sayin'!

Right at the beginning of the clip below is the 3rd down play. Watch Rocco get up and say... "what are we doing??".

Rocco was spot on. WTF were we doing? CMC admitted as much in the presser last night that we were getting the ball where we wanted it positioned for the FG attempt. It's calls like this that keep you a slightly above average football team instead of a great one. It's losing football mentality, and it kills the players drive and competitiveness.
