Am I that biased, or is Brandon Smith really that close to Tamin Lipsey as a player???
Because i'm taking Tamin 11/10 times to lead my team...

I get it but he also had Edey to draw a lot of defensive attention and as an easy assist. I think he's good but will be interesting to see what happens without Edey12/6/7.5 with 1.5 steals per game. 43% from 3.
I wouldn't take anybody over Tamin Lipsey, but from a national perspective I get it.
Mr. Haslam has issued his preseason baseline for the season!
We have lost ground the past 5 months, down to #3 in conference. Hmm.I thought we were #1 !!!
Has TJ lost momentum?
I'm not sure. ISU starting 5 all earn 1st Team Big 12. It could happen.Five player accolades teams are not very big for this large conference.
Seems like a little disrespect to pick the cyclones 3rd behind houston after their performance in the big 12 tournament and that we return our top 4 scorers while Houston lost Shead. But then I’m biased too hahaWe have lost ground the past 5 months, down to #3 in conference. Hmm.

Iowa State picked third in Big 12, Lipsey & Gilbert on all-conference teams
The following is a press release from Iowa State Athletics Communications: IRVING, Texas - A pair of Iowa State men's basketball players have earned preseason honors from the Big 12 coaches. Tamin Lipsey and Keshon Gilbert were each named to the 10 player All-Big 12 Preseason Team, with Lipsey nacyclonefanatic.com
And I'm not sure we will have both Tamin and Keshon averaging 12+ ppg, when Milan, Curtis, Nate, Joshua, and Dishon all will be above 10 ppg also.
"Only four players in the country averaged at least 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game last season, with Lipsey and Gilbert accounting for two of the four."
I might be drinking the Kool-Aid.![]()
I think Houston is being a little overrated going into the year. Shead was just so big for them. Uzan isn’t going to be able to replace him at all and Cryer can put up stats but doesn’t have the “it” of Shead.Seems like a little disrespect to pick the cyclones 3rd behind houston after their performance in the big 12 tournament and that we return our top 4 scorers while Houston lost Shead. But then I’m biased too haha
They were pretty complimentary in the write up. The league is just that good.Do we have an ISU MBB season thread? I know there's one for WBB, seems like we have MBB, but I can't find it.
"Irregardless," this is CBS Sports Big 12 preview. Three of the seven panelists have ISU lower than fourth (and none higher than third). It could happen, nothing in this league will come easy. But that seems ... dismissive, at best.

Big 12 expert picks: 2024-25 preview, projected order of finish, preseason predictions, top players to watch
The new-look Big 12 enters a new era without Oklahoma and Texas and with an influx of former Pac-12 memberswww.cbssports.com
Iowa State at No. 4 might, in hindsight, be our biggest miss of the preseason; there's a non-zero chance the Cyclones are just the best team in the Big 12. Period.
Right, there's absolutely no shame in being ranked behind the likes of KU, UH, 'Zona, Baylor, etc. any given year. Honestly, being considered top 5 in this league is a huge compliment. They were pretty complimentary in the write up. The league is just that good.
I think there's a world where they have a B12 team at every seed line from 1-9.Torvik has 3/4 #1 seeds as Big 12 teams right now. Obviously, I think in reality that wouldn't happen (though the SEC would love the equivalent for football!) but here is how it looks right now...
