***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

Vikings got the old Jets Darnold today and not the newly improved version. This performance should quiet anyone who was talking extension for him. This is the reason he is on a 1 yr deal.
There's no reason to be reactionary, based on one game, either positively or negatively. Still early in the season. Today didn't make him any less likely to get an extension, any more than the Houston game made him more likely to get one. NFL teams don't operate on one game sample sizes, and if they do, they aren't run very well.

Probably true BUT...that decision will be made based on his entirety of work. Not just one game against one of the better defenses in the NFL.

Your post makes it sound like he is a rookie. Today’s game (unfortunately) is more reflective of his career than the first several games this season. We will have to wait and see how this plays out thru the season, but I had read several articles talking about how great Darnold is ( and a couple even mentioned extension) while neglecting his overall career performance.

Hopefully it is just something with him and the Jets and next game goes back to better form.

It's likely he will struggle against strong defenses, especially without a functional run game. Most guys would. I tend to think our offensive gameflow later on did him no favors, either. Seemed like we kept scheming up long/difficult throws for him instead of taking what's there to keep things moving.

He had a bad game, his throwing was mostly bad today. Still, defense did enough to pull out the win, I'll take it. Shake it off with the bye and carry on.

I'm not going to read much into a game oversees against a good defense that threw off his rhythm with lots of grabbing. Penalties killed many drives also.

The next game for Minnesota is a big one, home for Detroit. They should be favored in their next 4 after that against the Rams, Colts, Jags, and Titans. Assuming they don't completely fall apart, double digit wins, and a playoff berth, should be very doable. I was definitely not expecting that out of this year. The free agent class that Kwesi brought in has been nothing short of incredible, so far.

Very impressed with how the team has found ways to win in different ways. Honestly not overly worried about the offense unless Jones is out for a bit, but it sounds like he'll be back after the bye. The London games are always weird and I'm just happy they left with a win. Also, getting to see the defense tee off on Aaron was a huge bonus.
