Michigan and ISU probably have some parallels with which we can draw some comparisons.

I don't think ASU is very good up front defensively. They couldn't hold up to Michigan who has just an average OL right now. With that, they have some LBs who play very aggressively in the run game. Now, Michigan is probably a little more run-centric than ISU needs to be but we've all seen how hard we will try to establish the run even if it isn't working well. I think this will be a good test for what seems to be a much improved OL because I think they will have a lot of bodies flying at them. I think we're gonna see how organized they are. Tough to tell on their secondary since Michigans perimeter players aren't as good as ISU's but UM had a lot of success with the TEs. Warren at one point was 11/13 with 2 INTs so there will be plays to be made. Brahmer isn't Loveland but he's much closer to that than he is someone the same coverages could stop. I would guess we're going to have to throw them out of loaded boxes and heavy downhill LB play. I look for some big plays early in PA taking advantage of those LBs. Then I just don't think their front can hold up so we should control the ball pretty well.

Defensively I'm not near as confident. I don't know what they will do at QB but both seem to have ability and they don't seem scared to throw it around a little. They seemed to like the screen game a little and they aren't afraid of throwing down the field. It's hard to judge their running game because UM has one of the best front 5s in the country and they can largely control the run themselves. ISU can't do that because of obvious numbers issues so I do think the LBs will have to be better here in all facets. Having said that the interior of our DL, I think, is our best spot so if they are given just a little support, I don't see that straight ahead run game going all that well for them. I'm more concerned about some of the horizontal stuff and making that second level use discipline and execute.

I actually like the over here.

I love the guy, but his press conferences are usually 100% coach speak. I'll tune in on occasion, but it's essentially the same press conference from week to week.
fact: the most interesting and point that’s been talked about the most this year from his pressers is what throw back hoodie he has on during them.

at Xmas time, i kinda wish i lived in Arkansas. It would be nice to go shopping for my mother, grandma, aunt, and sister and only have to buy one gift

Is that an inbreeding joke or a "they're sharing the sex toy air frier" joke?

I love the guy, but his press conferences are usually 100% coach speak. I'll tune in on occasion, but it's essentially the same press conference from week to week. That being said, you'll still be the most athletic team we've faced. Given that the first 2 teams were North Dakota and Iowa, I'm not sure that's a bold statement.

It'll be interesting to see how weather factors into the game. Rain and wind has a way to make anyone's prediction look silly. I think adverse conditions would favor us, but I'd rather watch a game where each team's strengths are on display. It's more fun. Campbell isn't focused on style points and if he sees he has an advantage with a ground and pound style, he'll take a boring 17-7 field position win.

In terms of your WRs, I'm struggling to remember the last time that ISU was beaten predominantly with stellar WR play. It's normally teams that are either run dominant or extremely balanced that give us fits. Our DBs may give up some underneath throws, but they are normally solid with downfield coverage. Our pass rush does a good job preventing long-developing plays through the air as well. Our defense is predicated by everyone doing their job. A bonus for us is that one of our DBs is a 6'4" state record holder in the 400m and is coming off one of his best games.
I hope we pretend like his side of the field doesn't exists! Yikes

Looks like last year we only sold out Iowa, Kansas, and Texas. We didn't sell out any in 2022, and in 2021 we sold out UNI, Iowa, Okie State, and Texas.

We're not even close to selling out via season ticket sales, unfortunately, and I think that will become a much taller task without marquee brands on the home schedule.
Ticket prices could be part of that, ours are on the higher end of tickets in P4, probably among the highest in the B12, if not the highest, especially when figuring in the required donation level for sections.

If that new guy was still on the fence about coming to Ames this weekend, he sure as hell isn’t coming now lol
Actually if he’s on the fence, specifically the post, that fits right into this intimacy enhancement conversation

No surprise that a majority of fans passionate enough to spend time posting on a message board are also optimistic that their team can find a way to win. I would guess that their players think they can find a way to win the game too.

This fan posting on a team message board is optimistic that we will crush these hopes of the Arkansas State fa

ns, players, and coaches though. :)
This guy was optimistic a couple of weeks ago too...

I think its funny when you compare the differences in Rural Iowa versus arkansas/ miss rural. its like another world.
On my last trip through Arkansas, we drove through some areas that I can not unsee. and I grew up in Rural Iowa.

Five quail hunting trips in Southern Mississippi and Louisiana. Oh my. What you see passing through small towns and country. Pheasant hunting in Rural Iowa is like Beverly Hills.

Who can we draw parallels with @CoachHines3 's mom for comparison?

@docpoco Welcome to our degenerate board. Brief breakdown of our team from my eyes:
QB Rocco Becht was the freshman Big 12 offensive player of the year last year and is expected to have a big year. Outside the first half of Iowa, he has been great.
WR Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins will be the best wide receiver combo you will see all year. Both expected to be on NFL rosters last year.
Run game is still a work in progress.
OL - has been okay so far. Not bad not great.

DL - Domonique Orange (AKA big Citrus) is a beast at DT, 6'4 325. He's a future NFL guy
DE's are promising but too early too tell. You may be familiar with Kenard Snyder who is a transfer from Louisiana Monroe.
LB - Lots of injuries so they guys playing are pretty inexperienced. Though true freshman Cael Brezina played very well against Iowa.
CB - Trio of Jontez Williams, Myles Purchase, and Darien Porter have all played well so far and are expected to have good seasons.
Safety - Probably the strength of our team (though debatable with WR).
