Arkansas State Message Board fodder

I think season ticket sales were down this year (makes sense with no iowa or Texas along with the unfamiliarity with some of the new big 12 teams).

Idk, I read the situation more as we really need to try to sell this game out to show support for a good team. Less than 50K would be disappointing to me, but I bet the athletic department wants 58K+
Disappointing to read, I thought ISU was selling out all the football games now.

Although with higher ticket/parking prices these days, I do not blame someone for not going

After taking the time to go on " THE DEN" ( Arkansas State's message boards) I have learned that the majority of the Red Wolves fans are very optimistic. They believe if they can spread us out and widen the field they can expose our secondary. They also are in hopes of getting back an experienced offensive lineman ( Makllan) to bolster their young offensive line . They think they will be able to establish a running game based on Iowa and North Dakota's running production. They have little respect for Coach Heacock's defense and feel they have a good chance.
That being said... what do you see are IOWA STATE's keys to victory?
Don’t play down to the level of competition

Looks like last year we only sold out Iowa, Kansas, and Texas. We didn't sell out any in 2022, and in 2021 we sold out UNI, Iowa, Okie State, and Texas.

We're not even close to selling out via season ticket sales, unfortunately, and I think that will become a much taller task without marquee brands on the home schedule.

The Baylor game, if still undefeated, will do very very well.

2022 isn't surprising given the massive clusterf*ck that that was.

I am a little concerned that it may take a bit to adjust to their athleticism after playing Iowa. I'm only kind of joking.
Campbell said in his weekly press conference that we are the most athletic team Iowa State has faced this year. Didn't come off as coach speak.

It's nothing that your guys don't face in practice, but it will be a step up from Iowa - particularly on offense. We have 2 guys in Tennell Bryant and Malik Hornsby that will probably be the fastest players on the field.. Really hope we start getting them more involved this week.

A pile of wooden rakes would be a step up offensively relative to Iowa.

Arkansas State covers the spread. Cyclone fanatic implodes several times during the game. Several threads are started the week after about how there is no way ISU can compete this year in the Big 12 because of “yada yada yada”

Yes, they must now be destroyed. If their reporters can’t even get the stadium name right, your team is dead to me.
I thought what the reporters said was true; I just didn't know they were scheduled to play in Kinnick. Hope the Hawkeyes aren't muddling around when Wolves take the field.

This game is taylor made for the under. A plucky opponent who wants to run a lot of plays and has shown burst. There is no way MC is going to get into pissing contest with this team.

Iowa State is going methodically get it's points and once there is a 17pt lead begin the grind.

The offense is going to run straight into 9 man fronts until our eyes bleed. Heacock gets out the plastic bag and duck tape.

A D3 is step up from Iowa on offense.

My brother was doing a gig in Arkansas years ago and this guy walks in to the show late... my brother looks at him and the guy heckled him. Not sure what he said exactly. My brother said "take your mullet and sit your ass down." They guy got mad, walked up on the stage and pulled out a knife and held if to my brother's balls. What a psycho.

I love the guy, but his press conferences are usually 100% coach speak. I'll tune in on occasion, but it's essentially the same press conference from week to week. That being said, you'll still be the most athletic team we've faced. Given that the first 2 teams were North Dakota and Iowa, I'm not sure that's a bold statement.

It'll be interesting to see how weather factors into the game. Rain and wind has a way to make anyone's prediction look silly. I think adverse conditions would favor us, but I'd rather watch a game where each team's strengths are on display. It's more fun. Campbell isn't focused on style points and if he sees he has an advantage with a ground and pound style, he'll take a boring 17-7 field position win.

In terms of your WRs, I'm struggling to remember the last time that ISU was beaten predominantly with stellar WR play. It's normally teams that are either run dominant or extremely balanced that give us fits. Our DBs may give up some underneath throws, but they are normally solid with downfield coverage. Our pass rush does a good job preventing long-developing plays through the air as well. Our defense is predicated by everyone doing their job. A bonus for us is that one of our DBs is a 6'4" state record holder in the 400m and is coming off one of his best games.

I'd have a hard time telling jokes at that point. Hopefully that dude got kicked out or arrested.

Well, that’s not really a prediction, more of a given. Happens every football and basketball game, without fail. It’s who we are!
