The Michigan game is undoubtably a higher profile game for them so I would expect them to be a little hungover for Iowa State. I'm glad we had a week off after our big game, unwind and get back to focus town.

We were pinned back deep for two drives. I understand we couldn't run a lot of plays on those drives. The other drives we just flat out ran vanilla predictable play calling.

Which could have been because of what Iowa was doing, or setting up for things later.

It seemed to take some time to get settled, and you still need time for longer throws.

Remember when Memphis was horrible against the run? I do. What were Sama's stats that day? Oh, yeah- nothing.

This team better not come out sleepwalking. Sunbelt teams are dangerous if you don't take them seriously.

Iowa state when their third nonconference game is at home under CMC is 4-0
SJSU: 44-10
Akron: 26-13
ULM: 72-20
Ohio: 43-10

Trends say kwe should win comfortably. We struggle much more if it’s on the road or week 1

Because of the Ohio game last year, I feel like game #3 gets lumped into the first two of the season as "Matt Campbell teams start off bad," even though the Ohio game is really the only game #3 that fits that story. In addition to the games you mentioned, add in at Akron in 2017 (41-14) and at UNLV in 2021 (48-3).

This isn't a bowl game, this one counts.

We’re afraid of Ark St now?

It’s always possible we lay an egg and play like ****, but like ND we won’t be in any real danger of losing.

As alluded to above, the goal should be to get backups some run before conference play starts.
I’d say the initial goal shoukd be integrating more new players into the first team offense.

They relied heavily on Higgins and Noel as targets in the first two games, which is fine. However, if guys like Alston, Ngoyi, Cooper (and maybe a couple of others we’ve heard about) manage a few catches each this week, it gives future DC’s more to worry about.

Annnd…admittedly, I wouldn’t mind if some of these guys just plain broke out. Kind of holding my breath on Overby and Eskildsen.

That “start off bad” narrative also ignores the fact that we were ripping SDSU a new one before the storm hit. That likely would have been another ULM type score.

If our OL has improved as much as I think it has we should be able to mash these guys. The trick is they know they aren't very good up front so they play a lot of games so we will get to see how good we are mentally. If we're okay there, should be an easy day. ISU is far better than Michigan at QB and even at worst at OL because UM has some not very good guys playing right now.

I watched a chunk of the game Saturday. Michigan was running at will against a stacked box. A lot of 8 in the box and safeties 7 yards off the line of scrimmage. Here are my thoughts, Michigan has a much better run game than Iowa State, and/or Ark. State has a horrible run defense. Hopefully their run defense is bad and we can get the running game going but if they are going to play safeties 7 yards deep it will be a fun day for Noel & Higgins. Michigan's QB is horrible. Honestly if McNamara had stayed there instead of transferring to TOE it would be an improvement for Michigan. Maybe they were trying to dare Michigan to throw the ball. That would not be a good game plane against Rocco.
