Attending my first Cy Hawk game in Iowa City. What do i need to know/ be aware of?

We would have an easy place to park but I would never go to a game there. They are bad enough at Jack Trice. Our friends who live not too far from the stadium have nightmare stories about what Hawk fans have done to and on their property.
I'd say they're worse at Jack Trice, there just aren't as many.

Been to two games there, once as an Iowa State fan for a CyHawk game, another as a neutral fan in a plain maroon shirt when they played (and lost) to Purdue when I was a teenager. Both times had beer cans thrown at me. Won't go back.

They say we're soft, but they've never had to deal with the obnoxious majority like we have our entire lives. They are proud of being obnoxious.

This bi-annual thread is always so lame. Don't go looking for trouble and you'll be fine. Wear your ISU gear with pride but don't be an a**hole.

I'll be there tomorrow and have only missed one Cyhawk game (2013 - brother got married that day!) in 21 years.
Meh, I think it's usually spot on. Some bad experiences, some good ones. Iowa City is a drunk place, and Iowa fans are notoriously mouthy and ill mannered. That said, I agree, I've never had any issues outside of drunk frat boys yelling **** state or whatever.

I have to imagine that going to CHA for an ISU wrestling meet wearing ISU colors could be flat out dangerous.

I somewhat agree except the fact is if you wear anything red you will get comments and depending on what random individual or group you chance to encounter, the result is related to: how drunk they are, what peer group or girlfriend they need to impress or what degree of trailer park hawkism is in their brain cells. Individual Iowa graduates are alright but can be boorish. I’ve been to all the Big 8 and Big 12 road games at Lincoln, Columbia, Manhattan, Lawrence on and on and no fan base comes close to the Hawkeyes. I agree it’s primarily non graduates but you don’t see that from other school’s non graduate fans. There is a weirdness to Hawks.
