Backyard Baseball (Sports) making a return? IT'S BACK BABY!

First EA College Football and now this potentially?

Us millineals know the game all too well and one of the greatest sports franchises of all time.

A new page on Instagram has popped up and so have I. :eggplant::otz:

They’ll ruin it though by making it unecessarily complicated. Before you can play a game, you’ll need to go door to door to find people to fill out your roster. But before you do so, you’ll need to send scouts to see if they’re even home. Maybe you’ll have to make return trips to each house to encourage them to come play.

- Signed, old guy that doesn’t have as much time as he used to to play NCAA properly.

That part is more fun than the games

LETTSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Is it back though? They seem to be leaving out a key piece of information. Namely, any kind of timeline for when the game will be available. Is this a matter of them starting the hiring process to bring in coders to create the game to be released 4 years from now, or has this been in the works and we’ll see a game in the next year?

Anyone follow Skwidlegs on Instagram. Guy plays the Backyard games live and his videos are hilarious. He’s been all over this

February 2021 was when EA CFB was announced and released July 2024.

Who cares about the exact timeline? It's back

I understand the skepticism, but the article does have this line:
Playground Productions... announced Tuesday that the beloved video game series is returning "in the coming months"
That's still pretty vague, but it's something. And the video being new content implies that they already have some kind of team working on it, at the very least.

I missed that part. That’s good. I was thinking it’d be like NCAA 25 and the announcement was that they were going to start working on it. If it’s in the coming months, they must have it close and hopefully it’ll be in my kids’ Christmas stockings.

Not to mention... BB scale isn't nearly as complex or daunting as something like CFB. I'd imagine we'll be seeing stuff about it fairly soon here. I mean we're talking, what, basically a mobile game (maybe ported to PC/Consoles) that's entirely 2D with basically zero licensed or real life assets used whatsoever? That's a pretty good setup to create a game under.

Pablo is the greatest baseball play of all time. I can't guess how many hours I spent playing this or how many times I took the disk over to friends for sleepovers.
