It takes a lot of skill. Too bad you can't see that.
Of course it takes a lot of skill. That doesn't mean it should be an olympic event. Diving seems just fine and subjective enough as a solo event. Adding in a duo aspect seems needless. But there's lot of dumb events in the olympics so it's probably unfair for me to solo out synchronized diving.

I respect the athletes and how much time is put in, and enjoy seeing different sports and countries highlighlighted.

And it's been around for a long time...but hand ball looks like what people decided to do when they couldn't make any other sports ball team in high school.

assuming it's because of the war much like Wimbledon did a couple years ago I think it's a little ridiculous. Lot of countries do terrible things. How you choose what countries to penalize their athletes? Then furthermore you allow individual sport athletes to compete but not team sports. Kind of odd stance in my opinion. I get it if you disagree
Banning countries from the Olympics because of military aggression goes back to 1920. Russia getting banned because they invaded Ukraine isn’t new. If you want to participate in an international celebration of athletics and unity, try to not invade and conquer a neighbor, just sayin’.

Don’t know if you saw the game, but pretty interesting they’re bringing Murray off the bench. I don’t know if it’s cause he’s not 100% or they want a spark off the bench.

He was in during crunch time, but he had a pretty critical turnover late in the game, which could have led Greece to tie it up. He didn’t play all that well imo.

Some of both I think.

I had a high school pe teacher who was obsessed with team handball so I actually played probably 50 games.

It’s incredibly fun. I played soccer at somewhat high level and pickup basketball. As just something fun to play it’s very similar to those. I think it would have been even more fun if we played with just athletes and not a random pe class forced to play.

Testifying
A lot of respect between all the boxers, referees, and training staffs.
The short amount of rounds is fun.

Yeah not sure why handball isn’t more popular in the US. I think it is an interesting sport.

This popped into my Facebook feed. You'll maybe recognize the song and not know why. It's a young French gals take on La vie en rose a song made popular around the world by French singer Édith Piaf in 1946 through the 1950's. Bing Crosby even recorded an English version as did many other American singers. Anyway, given all the comments on France and Paris because of the Olympics I thought I'd post it here because it's a pretty awesome cover.

My beef with it is couldn’t you do that in TONS of sports?
Really? Name them.

People laughed when synchronized swimming became an Olympic event. It takes much the same amount of strength and skill as dancing on ice and floor mats, but you have to do it while holding your breath and smiling. And your timing has to be perfect because it's tough to hear the music when you're doing your underwater maneuvers.

Full disclosure: I am somewhat biased. I was on a synchronized swim team (club) in college. We didn't compete extramurally because there weren't many other clubs in the PNW (it's more of a southern "thang")...but we did put on several shows a year. We did our own choreography and costuming as well.

Because the Olympic committee making this judgment while allowing countries that are committing genocide and other atrocities to compete seems a bit inconsistent. I won't expand any further or this will probably need to be moved to the cave.
This is Russia's 4th straight, started because of doping. So they've been on a short leash. Don't disagree that other countries should potentially be on the list

Synchronized surfing, I watch them in person. Synchronized skateboarding.

All skiing, all snowboarding, all equestrian, over half of gymnastic events.

That’s just thinking about it for five seconds. It might be a majority of individual sports.
