When do you think you will buy a 100% pure electric vehicle?

Those people just advocate for cheaper gas. What would you drive if gas was 2.15 a gallon where you live?

If an EV cost more for me than comparable gas car I’m not sure I’d have tried it but my wife would have as she’s pretty passionate about certain issues.

Trying it via phev convinced me if costs were equal ev is more convenient for my life style, it surprised me. The growing reality though is it may be more convenient and cheaper for most. There are some new models and even small suvs just around the corner in mid 20k range qualifying for the credit. At that time even if someone’s fuel savings is only $1/gallon (vs our 3-4) it will still save them $.

im kinda coming around to the idea of a Rav4 hybrid.

i drive close to about 70 miles a day to and from work and i think getting some solid mpgs would be nice.

Unless you have incredibly cheap gas the plug in prime model may pay for itself. If you can charge at work it’d be even better.

Taking a Ford but I won't have the Tesla adapter. If I had that then yeah I'd be stopping for a charge in Mt Pleasant. I think that adapter from Ford is supposed to show up in August.

Once you get that adapter all the range issues go away. Tesla chargers seem to be about everywhere.

Saw a Rivian (with Airstream) charing at the Kwik Star in Ames.
Really need to have some of these chargers be drive thru because that dude was really ******* up the traffic flow in the lot.

Didn't see a deeper dive into the numbers. Would be curious if those 46% are looking to buy 100% ICE or hybrid vehicles.

The 46% figure surprises me, but the early adopter consumer might be feeling a longer window for EV tech advances.

Unlike computers or cellphones where a 2-3 year old product was dated. Not sure most people see the range issue being resolved in next 5-10 years.

In SoCal Rivian, Kia and Hyundai are what is obviously growing and you can’t spit without hitting one. Same thing happened with Tesla 5-10 years ago.

Might be misleading since the new current crop of EVs from the legacy auto makers are wildly better than the pathetic offering five years ago. Ford now vs Ford 5 years ago, it’s real EVs vs token gimmick.

I’m skeptical my friends with new Hyundai, Kia and Rivian EVs are ever going back, they are over the moon happy.

It might also really depend on local gas price, absolutely nobody in my neighborhood is going to have $1.25 electric fueling for three years and then have a burning desire to go back to $6 gas, gas price alone kills all ice vehicles for me. Somewhere like Iowa with cheapest on earth gas… I could totally see some people flipping back and forth.

This is a ridiculously misleading statistic:

"After purchasing an electric vehicle, half of EV owners go back to ICE vehicles as either a replacement car or a second vehicle for their household..."

We had an 2017 F150 Ecoboost and Mach E. I traded my old F150 off on a newer F150 Powerboost. For purposes of that 'statistic' I'd be included in the half with an ICE second vehicle just because I didnt get a second.
