A lot fewer people on here when something good happens or we win a ball game lol.

Hey, I'm all for a fun win. But we've watched a month of bad, bad baseball, and we watched 6 innings of horrific baseball at home, with your ace, against a historically bad team. Criticism is 1,000% justified.

Tonight is the type of game that turns around a season.

And he hit a 2 run homer. Do you remember the George Bell era with the Cubs.
No, because I was born in 1991, which was the lone year he was with the Cubs.

I see he had 10 errors over the course of 151 games while hitting .285 and 25 dongs.

Morel has 8 errors in 47 games at 3B and is hitting .201 (albeit, he has been unlucky)and on pace for 29 homeruns.

Point I’m simply trying to make - I’d rather make routine outs and not give up multiple unearned runs instead of hoping our .201 hitter will redeem himself at the plate after giving up 4 unearned runs because we cant field a ball.

World Series here we come!!;)

Gave up on them after listening to the 5 run Sox inning and ensuing rain delay. Almost had a heart attack when I saw they won this morning.

Tough decision coming on Morel. After thinking his defense was improving, the last week might be regression to mean. My initial thought is Counsell has to make Morel permanent DH. But that has bigger impact on OF/DH rotation of Bellinger, Happ, Suzuki, Tauchman and PCA.

The Cubs can give the young guys (Morel, Busch and PCH) a long leash in 2024 as long as they are in the WC chase. Right now they are 3rd in WC race. There are 6 teams within 2.5 games behind Cubs.

I would take Bote, Wisdom, Vazquez, or put a pause on Busch at 1B and let him get a few at 3B before going with any of the 3 M’s at 3B.

To me, it makes most sense to move Busch to 3B, Belli to 1B, PCA in CF, and let Morel be DH/4th OF.

Madrigal & Palencia both got hurt in I-Cubs game this afternoon. Madrigal got hit by a 97mph fastball in the hand and he immediately went to dugout. I didn't see what happened to Palencia. He seemed to try to work through an issue and lasted a couple batters before leaving game. It didn't help that he walked 3 guys in the 2/3 inning he pitched.

Keagan Thompson was ugly- no outs and gave up a hit & 2 walks.

Every time Mike Tauchman starts over PCA, a puppy dies.
I have nothing against Tauchman, he's been a solid 4th/5th OF and fills his role well but he's blocking guys in Iowa right now who could potentially have a higher ceiling than him. It doesn't matter how bad some here would like to get rid off Happ, the reality is that Happ and Suzuki are not going anywhere, Bellinger is here if he chooses to opt in, and PCA is probably up for the long haul now. So moving Tauchman to free up a roster spot to give Davis Caissie or Canario some chances and in the not too far future Alcantara will be in the mix as well is the logical move. Belli can play 1B but then what do you do with Busch. Whether they are buyers or sellers in July I think you gotta consider trading Tauchman who is not part of the long term picture with the logjam in the OF and see if one of the guys crushing it in Iowa can spark the offense. Especially for a team with issues in the OF he may not bring back a higher end prospect but he should bring back more than a lotto ticket too. Could also package him with someone and essentially buy a better prospect that way too.

Great hitting there with bases loaded Gomes and Tauchman. Clutch much?
I am still trying to figure out if I heard JD correctly. Gomes hasn't had a hit since May 11. Not good for a position player who gets 40% of Cubs catcher at bats. It would be one thing if his OBP was closer to league average, but it's only .173.

Unless there is some unpublished injury, Cubs have to make a move soon. Amaya is a little better at .190/.254. The problem is neither is a plus-arm catcher.
