***Official 2024 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Hendricks is done. Even in mop up duty relief he is getting lit up. As soon as he gets his 10 years in he either needs to retire or the Cubs cut him. I've been a big fan of his over the years, at his best he was a lot like Maddux but this version of him is tough to swallow. Its not like they are going to take a big hit financially either as this is the last year of his contract.

It was 7-4 when he came in. JD even said it felt like a game we could climb back into. CC tends to do this at the wrong time. Example would be Cuas.

So which bats do you trust over the long haul?

Yes, Bellinger but he'll opt out

Mostly, Suzuki but he looks lost currently

Yes. Hoerner

No, Morel Happ both will get on streaks to pad the stats but too much nothing

No Swanson and the catchers just don't seem to grind

Yes Tauchman

Yes PCA He's going to be the face of our offense soon

Yes Busch maybe not now but I think he'll produce. It's his glove i hate.

No Madrigal masterbuoni need to be replaced with youth

Yes Wisdom probably not a popular take but it's nice to have someone that kills lefties on the bench.

??? Vazquez

Pretty brilliant stuff out of the FO. Everyone knows the best thing to do for a guy who is riding an all-time heater is to sit him down for damn near 2 weeks.

I’m really jealous of the offensive production the Brewers get out of the catching and SS position right now. That is such a huge luxury in this game and offers so much flexibility. They got both of those guys in trades, and they’re making the difference in this division right now.

PCA is being called back up.

Good. Play him every day. I know he has his flaws at the plate, but at least he's capable of making some **** happen, which can't be said for about 80% of our offensive roster right now. Plop Belli at first. DH Busch here and there. Go Happ, PCA, Seiya across the outfield.

The Vazquez part of this is perplexing. Calling him up AFTER Swanson came off the IL is just weird to me (and a lot of people). Mastro and Madrigal while Swanson was out???

I thought after he got the doubleplay to end the inning cc would change pitchers but then seemed to forget where the game was. then the Cubs don't score and that was the game.

I think Seiya is going to get few days here in the hopes that it does what his break did last year. Busch has re-adjusted and you can't sit him right now.

Stick PCA at leadoff and let him be.

Should be Madrigal going down.
Would love for Vazquez to get more run in Chicago. Not convinced Swanson's knee is 100%. And I'd rather give Vazquez a couple starts a week at short. But if there isn't a plan to play Vazquez, then I-Cubs is probably best.

I can understand keeping Madrigal in Chicago IF the plan is to highlight his bat/utility with the goal to trade him over the next 60 days.

They found starts for Madrigal 3B, Vazquez could do the same. Absolutely Swanson could DH once or twice a week. Vazquez is a plus defender at 2nd, 3rd and short not sure why Madrigal is still the option. He's needs to get ML evaluated before the next wave come knocking.

Little got lucky but he's a mess. His delivery is never consistent. Really needs to work that out in Iowa. When is Almonte suppose to be back?
