***Official 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Thread***

so theyre gonna pay Cal 33 million to get rid of him and then pay 17 or 18 mil to hire another coach?
It's Kentucky basketball. Nothing would surprise me. I just can't see that fanbase thinking an ISU coach is a big enough name for them.

Listening to some Greeny this AM on ESPN radio and had a guest on and they said UK is probably ready to move on from Cal. Said he's not very portal friendly.
First name: Oats but said buyout is $18 mil.
Second name: Otz but said buyout is $17 mil.
Oats would be great there. Otz and his current style would not fit at all.

A large cause of this statistically speaking is the number of participating schools east of Texas vs the number of schools west of Texas. I don't know and am far too lazy to look it up, but I bet that ratio doesn't make that stat so crazy.
I get that but with the prominence of even a few teams like UCLA and Arizona and Gonzaga it’s still a stat that is kinda nuts. It’s not like the west has never been good. UCLA owned the country for like 20 years back in the day.

These schools/fans are so stupid. Always need to make a "splashy" higher

There are so many good assistants or mid-major coaches that could probably win big there.
You don't have to pay them $10M per year . Give them $3-4M with incentives for wins/post season, on something like a 5 year contract.
If it works out, you can add another year to the contract every year if you need to.

If you're Kentucky and a coach has things rolling, where are they going to go? You're one of the top jobs.
And if they do jump to Texas or some school willing to pay a crazy contract, tell them good luck and go find the next guy.

The problem is these schools are always using someone else's money (boosters) so what do they care if they light $30M on fire

You're right, and if you're not on the coast there isn't much in the west...it's pretty barren. But that's still 27 years! No one from California, Arizona or Oregon has won it, and there are some good basketball schools in there.

Adding to the stat, El Paso is on the western tip of Texas. It is 330 miles from Phoenix. It's 575 miles from Dallas. Texas be big.

Pardon My take had Matt Jones from Kentucky Sports Radio on and they mentioned TJ's name is passing and he just kind of laughed. Nowhere near splashy enough for their fanbase.

I'm still baffled by DeVries' usage or lack thereof of Tucker late in that game last night and Tucker not hunting shots with the game on the line. I'm surprised it's not being talked about more.
I don't watch Drake basketball, but he looked completely uninterested in taking the big shot. Definitely didn't seem like he has onions like Donovan Jackson.

I could see Hoiberg begging for that job!

The Iowa board is funny since last night. With the choke job last night by Drake and the same choke job by Drake last year against Miami, now many are saying 'no thanks' for Devries to replace Fran.

Truth be told, I think Devries ends up at Okie State
