Big win for the Buckeyes, now they have a commanding two-game lead on Michigan for second-to-last place in the Big 10.
How Purdue was the top overall seed when the bracket was released yesterday is beyond me. Then they come out and do this. Everyone knows Purdue is a fraud. Edey is just huge, that’s it. Their guards are meh as always.
Them and Wisconsin both provided some instant "are you sure about that?" to the committee
Ohio St again shows why Joe Lunardi doesn’t know what he’s talking about saying Purdue is better than UConn.
Purdue does hold wins against Gonzaga, Tennessee, Alabama, Arizona, and Marquette. That is - objectively - the most impressive non conference resume.
Sure, they are a good team, no doubt, but they just don’t have the look of a team that can do damage. Painter loves getting his huge guys down low, which would work wonders if he could get some good guard play. They try to force so much to Edey and teams can get out and run on them quickly.
They should be rewarded for the resume but I'd be surprised if they win more than two games.
FTs and 3pt defense. In our five losses we’ve averaged giving up 10 threes/game at a 38.5% clip.
Yeah and it's really tough to nitpick with our team because they play so fang hard.
They had to get thier quality wins in non conference because they knew there be none in conference play.
Purdue is equivalent of the Jr High basketball team with the one post player who was a foot taller than everybody else. Just throw him the ball in the paint and have him keep shooting. Miss? He's able to just stand there and grab the rebound while everyone else is trying to jump for it around him. (I'm oversimplifying, but you get the gist)
So, opponents need to realize that Edey is going to get his. Guards win games; especially in college bb. I haven't seen much out of Purdue's guards (or anyone outside of Edey, really ) where I would put faith in them getting to the second weekend of the NCAA tourney.
Just my subjective opinion, of course...
