Just did my driveway, about 8 inches in Des Moines. I highly recommend the Arien's Compact 24. The thing is a workhorse. I had to take it a little slower today though so I didn't break a shearing pin since the snow was really heavy.
Same blower, 3 years old. The 20" piles at the bottom of the driveway made it snort but it never stopped chugging along. The Deluxe and Platinum models must be absolute beasts with the bigger motors.

This is the kind of snow that reminds me why I'll never give up my 2-stage. I've never gotten done and said "Man, I wish this thing was smaller" and it was nice to be able to help my neighbors when I was done.

On of my neighbors has a UTV that he uses to clear his very small driveway. Seems a bit overkill. I had no clue that those things were so expensive.

I’m a little surprised at all the 10” measurements around the DSM area. I measured around 6-7” in Waukee, are people measuring drifts??
Same here in Waukee - my guess it that the first few inches melted but are counting towards the total.

The official correct measurement will be done properly by clearing the area or board that is being used to be measured off of every hour or so with the sum being reported. This drastically reduces the compaction factor that especially this heavy wet snow has.

My neighbor has a little 18 inch Toro power clear Snow Blower. Small but it shredded right through this snow in his driveway. I have a 24 inch old yard machine and I struggle with it. I was embarrassed.

Snow that I thought was packed down on my deck, swirled up and created drifts in the past 3 hours. There's now bare spots of deck from the drift formation.
Sooo, looks like the snow wasn't wet enough, West Des Moines.

Measured about 11.5 on my back deck in SE CR. Given how heavy it is, I'm confident we've gotten at least a foot of snow and it's still coming hard.

I went out and cleared the area where the snow plow came through. I could barely lift my shovel it was so heavy. Luckily I had cleared it with the snowblower earlier otherwise it would have been worse. I wanted to get it cleared before the temps dropped.
