***2023-24 College Football Thread***

Wow Georgia is playing like the team mad they got screwed.

I never really care if half of a small football playoff is the SEC. If we had a small basketball playoff half the teams should be big 12. Same thing.

It would’ve been a joke to shut them out completely. Just Alabama is fine but Alabama and Georgia would be more rational than 0 from SEC.

The announcers for the Arizona Bowl are cracking me up.

Unless you actually want to watch the football game. This would be fine as the alternate channel, but they’re trying to be the entertainment not the actual game. It’s like watching Mystery Science Theatre to catch a movie you wanted to see.

Both Ohio State (Mizzou) and Penn State (Ole Miss) REALLY GLAD they didn't draw Georgia in their Bowl Games. Georgia Bulldogs are in a fiesty mood!

It's a bottom tier bowl game. Nothing wrong with trying to do something different to make it entertaining.

20 FSU players out (injuries, portal, draft).
No Georgia players opted out

It validates that the right but difficult choice was made to squeeze them out.

If being #5 vs #4 somehow results in 20 players out there’s something massively broken in the sport. Some of this was happening even had they got in.

If there was some small basketball championship that excluded the Big 12 it would be as fake as wwe.

I'm surprised Georgia is even trying in this game since it's an exhibition.

I’m planning a thread asking specifically which games DO matter. About 110 of 140 teams have no real chance of being top 12, so if only playoff games matter why should it all even exist?

We're seeing on full disply why it's time to revisit how to do NIL/transfer season to make the non playoff bowls interesting again.

I'd guess even 12 team playoff teams have players sit out.

It would happen a lot in basketball too but only 10-15 college players a year have a very good shot at a guaranteed nba contract. If 120 of them had that likelihood it’d be the same thing.

Might be a small thing, but I guess the NCAA could set a rule that any player sitting out of the post season cannot participate in on-campus NFL workouts.

But that’s really the only thing that I think they could do to control this. So you might as well just create a 16 team playoff and do away with bowl games.
