NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

That is the refs explanation but then isn't that weird. Refs are then selectively enforcing it depending on what their belief on what is too far offsides to not give a warning and call it?
Because they don't want to call stuff like that if they don't have to, and that's what everyone should want. Nobody wants to watch a game where every finger or toe into the neutral zone is a flag, but you can't just line up with your entire body offside and not expect a flag.

From my understanding what Mahomes and Reid are so upset about is the offense gets warnings from the refs if guys are lining up offsides. As Mahomes said, no one has ever called it on the Chiefs since he has been a QB. Even Cheffers mentioned they usually warn guys but then went on to say that Toney's was so bad they didn't get a warning. SO it is more like hey you don't ever call this, you give warnings and now all of the sudden at the end of this game you call it? Of course it was a penalty but its about expectations on past actions from refs.

It is also frustrating because they missed Miller being offsides.

They also missed a PI when Rice caught a pass. It didn't matter because he caught it but they Bills CB was draped over Rice before the ball got there. I think overall this year the officiating in the NFL has been really poor.
you dont get warnings when its as obvious as it was with his whole body beyond the ball.

will you get a warning if you're inching up and you may have a foot/hand? sure.

100% on Toney and i think alot of the outrage is just a buildup of the chiefs offense not being what it hsa been in years past

Oh I agree. it shouldn't be an issue because you should have better attention to detail and that is why Toney sucks is because he doesn't do that. I just understand the complaint.
What I find more interesting is how can you be an NFL player with years of experience, be that close to the ball, and be that far offside with no self awareness!!

And as expected, Toney never looked to the sideline anyways

Also Von Miller being "clearly offside" but maybe actually just his facemask barely in the neutral zone at snap.

Well, It's Toney. He finds new ways too look bad every time he plays.
I’m a Vikings fan and don’t follow Chiefs much. But the games I’ve watched this year it appears the Chiefs WR corp is on a whole other level of bad. Some very timely dropped balls, screw ups, etc that shouldn’t happen at the NFL level.

I always think "Hakeem Butler is headed back to spring ball, but the KC WR roster can't catch a pass"

They've been next level awful. Can't blame Mahomes for his contract. Even at the league minimum you can bring in guys who can line the **** up correctly and not drop 30 balls in a season

Need to give him an eye exam, can't lineup right and can't catch passes that hits him the hands. He's been so bad this year that would be funny if it was just a Ricky Vaughn "Wild Thing" issue where he needs some corrective lenses. LOL

Not saying the WR group would have been any better had they signed Hopkins or OBJ but either would have been better than Toney has been and at least can catch a pass.

Hopkins: 50 catches for 774 yards 5 TD
OBJ: 31 catches for 505 yards and 3 TD. Has been banged up a little at times though

Chiefs top 3 WR at start of the season:
Toney: 25 catches for 164 yards and 1 TD and several dropped passes
Moore: 21 catches for 244 yards and 1 TD and several dropped passes
MVS: 19 catches for 295 yards and 1 TD

Just absolute trash production from those 3 guys. Rice has come in and caught 59 for 663 yards and 6 TD as a rookie. I know money was an issue trying to bring someone in but in hindsight should have either traded for or cleared some space to bring in a veteran WR.

This all started week one of the season against Detroit, the announcers were complaining the entire game about how far back and how quick the tackles were going on the count, and the drops started also.
The league and refs were embarrassed that the not being on the line was not flagged, and have hammered the Chiefs since then. The Chiefs get little benefit of the doubt and get called on crap now that most teams get away with.
Watch the offensive tackles on other teams, lots of them leave a split second early, but when the Chiefs now do it, the get rang up.

It all came together last night the drops, flags and the rest of it and Mahomes and Reid just went off, good for them. Sometimes you have to show the league that you are only going to take so much of it without saying anything.

But that is not what is being said. They are saying guys will line up offsides and the refs won't call a penalty and instead will warn them after the play and tell them to watch where they are lining up.
Typically WRs check the sideline when lining up, you see it every play by every receiver... except for this time. The ref isn't going to stop the game and go tell the WR he needs to move back. They may tell them after plays, but that isn't applicable here.

Their only good WR is Rice and for some reason he wasn't even in on the 4th down play at the end of the game. Toney has been horrible. I think Skyy Moore is not in a great role for what he can do but he is not great either way. MVS has been horrible. Watson has been there second most consistent WR and he should be like a 4th or 5th guy. They have basically cost them every one of their losses this year with either drops or running the wrong routes.

Yeah, that has to be priority #1 in FA next year. Get rid of Toney, MVS and Moore and find better WRs. Rice looks like he can be pretty good.

On the Rice PI - the flag would have stopped the clock and saved 20 seconds.

More frustrating with the wrong routes. Skyy MVS and Toney consistently getting missed for running the wrong variation of a route. Watson as well.
