NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Great game again by the defense and the offense might be starting for find it’s way. Keep running the ball. Top WRs should be Moore, Rice, MVS and Watson with Toney sprinkled in.

You can't really take much away from this game. The Bears are inept at several positions, especially at OL, DL, and QB and have questionable (at best) coaching to boot. It's the easiest game the Chiefs will have all season.

Bears are bad but the Broncos are in the same realm of ineptness.

You would still rather see them execute well against a bad team. Bears may very well be the worst team in football, but Arizona is right there and Dallas spit the bit against them this weekend. No game should ever be taken for granted, so complete domination of a bad team is a good sign.

Sweat free win with no major injuries and another reason to spotlight Taylor's RT woes (alignment only, he's been a good blocker) plus gave guys like Bolton a week off and hopefully the offense got right. Big week.

Lucky for both they have a chance to decide it on the field this weekend.

If there was ever a game to avoid watching it's this one (says the sad Bears fan).

Can't wait to see what she titles this breakup song as I'd be shocked if Kelce is finally the one that makes it to the end zone. Speaking of which...

"Failed to reach the end zone"
"Wide Right"
"Incomplete"
"Fumble on the goal line"

So many football related puns that could wind up in a song 1 day

Sadly, I think that may be the game CBS shows here in central Iowa. I was hoping that the Fox game would be more compelling, but that may be the Min-Car game. The late game is either going to be NE-Dal or Ari-SF. If they go with NE-Dal, I'm hoping the weather is nice to get some outside work taken care of.

I disagree.

I disagree.

Then you clearly haven't been watching the Bears. Most of the Chiefs success was due to the ineptitude of the Bears, their players, and scheming/coaching. Mahomes didn't get pressured all day (Bears have the worst dline in the NFL), there were open receivers all over the place, and the Bears "offense" is the laughing stock of the NFL.

About the toughest play I saw from the Chiefs was that dime Mahomes dropped in to Watson along the sideline. The rest of the day was pitch and catch and it literally will not be any easier for the Chiefs the rest of the season.

As a Bear fan I think they have a legitimate chance to go defeated this year. Everything about the team is a ******* trainwreck right now. And I don't see it getting better.

I think this may be the Chiefs best defense yet in the Mahomes era. Yes the Bears offense is inept as well but I think the Chiefs have done a great job the past few years in the draft adding to the defensive side of the ball which was their Achilles early in Mahomes career as they Chiefs could lose games they scored 40 in because the defense couldn't stop anyone.

Bears definitely should be concerned that they may need to look at their future at QB with the way Fields has played. He's only under contract through 2024 but they can pick up 2025 too. Not sure he's the guy you want to invest franchise QB type money for quite yet. 2023 was going to be a big season for him to take a big step forward and earn an extension and so far it's not looking too good for him.

The verdict is in on Fields: he doesn't have the vision or the decisiveness to be an NFL QB. We saw it Sunday on several plays were guys were open (NFL open...coming out of their breaks with a window), clearly in his field of vision, and he couldn't/wouldn't throw the ball. Even worse this year is he is not creating outside of the pocket, ie extending plays. The staff isn't doing him any favors but he should be benched right now in favor of Bageant. The team isn't going anywhere anyway so they might as well see what they have with him as he has impressed in practice and limited play in the preseason.

I thought the Chiefs defense was already worlds better last year. Obviously that starts and stops with Chris Jones who, when he plays motivated, is a top 10 player in the league (regardless of position). The last two years Jones has put in consistent effort, something that was a problem early in his career. The major development is that the Chiefs have hit the ball out of the park in the last 3-4drafts with their back 7 defensive selections. Bolton is a stud, Gay is good, and the secondary has a lot of talent. I always thought Spagnola sucked as a coordinator, but he seemed to be more aggressive last year, possibly because he had the talent to do so. The Chiefs were 2nd in the league with 55 sacks.

The Chiefs defense will likely have a hard time being a top 5 unit in yardage given their offensive output and with opponents often playing from beyond (garbage yards...like on Sunday). But if they can maintain the sacks, limit big plays, and play better red zone defense....comparatively they were TERRIBLE with yielding touchdowns, they should do well. They also need to create more TOs (in the bottom third of the league) and lower the QBR against. IMO their performance on the latter is odd given the defense is top 5 in the league in sacks (2nd), hurries, and QB knockdowns. Usually pressure correlates strongly with TOs/INTs but the Chiefs did neither. If they simply do a better job of forcing FGs rather than yielding TDs they could drop their PPG yielded by a significant amount.

I’m aware how bad the bears are. But hiu can still take things away especially if you look at the play of the D and of how easily they put the Bears away. Chiefs have played bad teams and haven’t put them away like they did Sunday.

Well time to bump this thread for the evening. T.S. traveled to NY. Announcers mentioned that
