I don't think he's going to take it, if he would the deal would already be done. I have a feeling he wants a minimum of a 4 year deal for no less than 100 million in guaranteed money.
I could be wrong (often am) but think the Chiefs would have gladly extended him for 2 years, for any reasonable number. That mitigates the long term risk, age related decline risk, and overall guaranteed commitment. I think Jones wants a longer term deal with more guaranteed money than what the Chiefs want to offer.
On principle I'd tell Jones to pound sand. In reality, if he plays close to his potential, he's a top 10 impactful player in the league (Top 4-5 QBs, Jefferson, maybe Chase, Donald, Jones). An elite tackle that can do anything is one of the rarest commodities in football. Based on that you almost have to find a way to get it done because he's irreplaceable. I don't envy being in the Chiefs position right now.
