Random Thoughts 17: Here we go again.

We sold. I just didn't want to deal with the additional hassle this week. We have a funeral Friday and we're leaving for Turkey on Wednesday. Too much to do, too little time to do it.

Taking some of the grandkids on this trip or adults only this go around?

Okay, it was hot but I didn't complain much, just kept doing what I could; but not it goes from 95 to 40 in 36 hours. I'm freezing my nethers off with this weather.

Two granddaughters. The two oldest - #1 & #2. These are the two that were originally supposed to go back in fall 2019 until they cancelled cruising. #1 went to the Baltic with us, but #2 didn't have enough vacation time left, so we took #3. #1 & #3 had a great time together.

We set up this time for #2 to go with #4 , but #4 threw us for a loop when she decided she just didn't want to go on a trip to Europe or share a cabin with a stranger. I'll point out that the reason her cousins are strangers is because her father had not brought her out here since she was 18 months old, and until last month, her younger sister (#10) had NEVER been to Iowa. :( And as for not rooming with a stranger...she's living at home as a sophmore attending a satellite campus of the UW in Tacoma, and plans to live there until graduation. We wonder what will happen when she graduates and has to branch out on her own...

So, our carefully planned pairings are all farked up now! This will be #2's first trip. #1 is going again because no one else is old enough. She's paying the difference between the single cabin and the double (it costs almost as much for one person in a cabin as it does for two people in a cabin - so she's paying about 1/4 of the cost). We went that route because the next up, #5, won't be old enough for two years, and we didn't want #2 to wait that long. Now it looks like the next grandkid trip will be in about four years, and we'll be taking #5, #7 and #8 (#6 is the lone boy; he will likely be on his own with us). We may take him before the three girls, or may take him after. We'll see.

If you are needing other people to pay for, just let me know sometime. I am low on pride and don’t mind handouts.

I've heard it helps to wear more than underwear in the outdoors.
