***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

I'm absolutely enraged about the Canario stuff. If you're not going to play him, let him keep raking in Des Moines. You literally CHOSE to kill his heater.

Also, why is Shane Greene on the roster? If you weren't going to start him on Friday, then what the **** are you doing? Your pen is exhausted and you haven't given them any health. Last night isn't on Leiter, he was gassed and still got sent out there.

Everybody else has a 28 man roster now and you're choosing to play with 26. Just incomprehensible.
Agree, both of Leiter's recent bad outings were on back to backs. I was shocked they didn't make a roster move after the doubleheader. This sounds like hindsight but Little in the ninth would of been a better option. If they were dead set on using a high leverage guy in the ninth yesterday they needed to hold somebody back.

Ross' unwillingness to acknowledge his mistakes is getting really annoying. I doubt he survives the offseason.

Taillon on the mound today, if Greene isn't used out of the pen today really will wonder why the hell they even bothered to bring him up. I'm not expecting him to hang around long but just a waste of a roster spot if you don't use a guy to give your tired bullpen some rest.

The Canario call up pisses me off too. No reason why he should not have had a start by now. There are plenty of other guys they could have called up and sat on the bench instead of pausing this kid's development. We keep putting Wisdom and Morel out there despite their struggles and can probably include Tauchman in that too who is only hitting
.187 the past month. Call up a red hot prospect who has power just to sit him is just rediculous. If that is how he is going to get used then there is no point in calling up PCA this year.

I wonder if there is a corner infielder with 2-3 years remaining on their contract that we can do a bad contract swap with for Taillon.

I'd sure as **** take Hendricks for one year at $16 million over Taillon for 3 years at $18 million per. Dudes a mental midget.

Of course I picked the one guy that hasnt gotte a hit so far today to get a hit in my same game parlay. Everything else will hit.

I'll take the split but it should have been 3 out of 4 at the very least. Big week coming up with fellow wildcard teams Arizona and SF.

Nice to get some runs late so didn't have to sweat it too much. ;)

Keagan Thompson is tough to watch because every batter is a 3-2 count. He can't seem to hit his spot and he misses the outside edge by a foot way too often. Greene at least threw strikes.

I might give Thompson one more outing, but Cubs should have a more reliable arm at Iowa- young guy or IR rehab.

It's strange we're keeping 2 spots open on the 40. Little seems to be the obvious choice to bring up.

Yeah I'm not convinced that Thompson has corrected his issues even after his 1st outing back he did well. He was really bad in Iowa other than a short stretch before he got called up and needs to figure out how to command his pitches still. He's likely going to be sent down when they make another roster move involving a pitcher.

I don't think there's anyway to view this series other than a massive disappointment and missed opportunity. Two bottom 9 leads blow with the offense being stagnant until the final game.

A couple big-ish roster bullpen moves will need to come soon.

- Boxberger is reportedly in Chicago and has been for a couple of days. Fairly confident MLB rules will force him to be off the IL in the next couple of days.

- Fulmer is expected to be near-minimum on the minimum for his IL stint

- Brown, Burdi, and Hughes all threw tonight in Des Moines

Will be interesting to see what arms are sent away. I would have no issue sending Palencia down and then putting someone else on the IL for a hang nail.
