Muted excitement?

Yeah I am not looking forward to sitting in this at all, seems insane that we didn't have this game at 5 or 7. Heck even 3 would have been nicer for the 2nd half.

Yeah I'm not sure why this game didn't get moved to 6 or7 pm.

With the gambling thing, us being predicted to finish last or second to last in the conference, and then the record heat on top of it... that is not a good combination. I think it's going to be embarrassingly empty tomorrow.

It's all self inflicted though. CMC had better not complain about it. His team won 4 games last season and only one conference win... then he had 5 critical starters all go against everything he preaches and be selfish and not think of 'the team' and get themselves in trouble. Can't do anything about the heat, but if we were coming off a better season, and had 5 starters not basically been kicked off the team, and experts picking us to win 9 games... the place would be almost full.
Curious what your definition of "embarrassingly empty" is? I don't think it will be full, or close to it, but even if 45-50k showed up it wouldn't be close to empty.

I was messaging an ISU buddy earlier with similar sentiments about lack of excitement. I'll still be in the car bright and early tomorrow morning making the 4 hour drive north though. Let's go Cyclones!

We have to remember there are far more fans who only watch games and that’s their perception of the program. Wins/losses and how you look doing it.

They don’t listen to podcasts, follow recruiting, read insider articles. Coming off of a disappointing 2021 and everything the past 12 months the public casual perception is not great.

Rattle off a couple wins and look decent doing it, JTS with be crazy when OSU comes to town week 4.

I'll agree with a lot of your diatribe but it will not be embarrassingly empty. Cyclone fans always show to the early games. Even with it being way to warm I predict a announced attendance of over 52,000

That low? Admittedly I haven't paid any attention to ticket sales but is that what we're expecting? I know there are a lot of factors going against us, but yikes.

I think the heat will back the attendance down, but it will be a long way from empty.

You can't move an event the size of an ISU football game with the snap of a finger. I understand how easy it is to fall back on hindsight, but truly think about how much that all entails even if it's just for 5 or 6 hours.

Besides that, trying to schedule against the weather is a fool's errand. You schedule a late game because you want to avoid some early season heat with South Dakota State and you end up with REDACTED at the end of the year. It's just not worth it.

Been an ISU fan since the Johnny Majors days. Will continue to be until I shuffle off this mortal coil. But…coming off a disastrous 4 win season last year (ONE conference win), following a team that barely won half its’ games despite being loaded with NFL talent…ya, the enthusiasm level is a little lower this year in all honesty.

agree here, 2021 really hurt. Had so many players back from a great 2020 and come out with a crappy game against UNI and were an unprepared sh#t show against Iowa at home. We failed to capitalize on 2020.

What's your definition of loaded with NFL talent?

I hope he means compared historically to past Iowa State rosters and not…majority of the SEC teams.

Just in general.

There were legit NFLers on the team but there were holes too.

Idk. We have 17 friends/family coming, including 4 newbies. I had heard 2nd most season ticket sales ever and student tickets sold out. Prob won’t be a Packed Jack due to weather, but a very big crowd.

Here’s hoping those that are predicting a 3-4 win season and an embarrassing crowd turn out to be the usual board idiots.

Simple fix for this; go win some games. Winning gets you hype. Losing does not. The last 2 years were wildly disappointing. Fixing it starts tomorrow

I listened to the coaches corner podcast and Pollard said depending on the walk up buyers he's expecting in the high 50k for attendance, maybe hitting 60k. Said season ticket sales were about 45.5k, and to expect a few more via Little Cyclone Club leading up to the Iowa game. It's at 16:20.

I’m ready to yell like hell and get the season started. Until proven otherwise that’s all I can do.

Edit: that’s really all we can do plus we don’t have to hear about gambling and realignment bull **** for a while.

I have quite a few friends that are worried about the heat and that's mostly their ticket resell reason.
I have trouble with heat due to a med that I take. I bought a neck fan, and we're hoping for the best. I may end up watching half of the game from the Jacobsen building.

Idiots?? I would say over half or at least half of Cyclone fans that actually pay attention are not expecting more than 5 wins this season. Don’t get me wrong, I hope we freaking go 10-2 but I’d say most of us are being realist for the year. Everyone will be cheering their asses off hoping to have a great season, but tempering expectations does not make people idiots.
