Yep. Just enjoy them for what they are. An extra month of football and a chance for some to enjoy a fun trip

As a huge fan if you told me ISU got an extra regular season game (regardless of venue) against a team above .500 but not ranked top ten….AWESOME.

It doesn’t have to be the greatest thing ever to be worth it and fun.

I want Oregon State and Washington state only because they are the Iowa State of the PAC.
Yeah...if there was any way to bring them on as 15/16, but the media partners are probably not into that, even at reduced share. ASU and UU seem like potential trouble makers. Maybe ASU less so if Crow moves on to Stanford.

We don't have any Vanderbilts or Rutgers or NWs getting subsidized by a Texas or Ohio State sized program.

After the ACC breaks up that's the next round of conference instability within SEC and Big Ten.

Not the private schools. They add value in their own ways.

found this post about 2022 attendance avgs for every school - pretty interesting and magnifies just how little interest in PAC 12 football there is. every team but Kansas in Big 12 was 45th or better in attendance.
2/3 of PAC 12 was 47th or worse. USC and Wash only 2 to barely make top 25.

How crazy is it for ISU to be 4th of teams not in the Big 10 or SEC!? I don't think I could have wrapped my head around that fact 15 years ago.

I suppose I should explain (again) why I'm willing to be more lenient about ASU than I am about UU: It's all about AZ.

Unlike in the past with how OBOR treated OSU, how KBOR was going to treat K-State, and apparently how OBOR and WBOR are going to treat OSU and WSU respectively, ABOR is being an absolute obstacle for AZ leaving for the Big 12.

...
Minor point but Oregon and Washington don't have Boards of Regents. Each university has its own independent board, so there will be no issues for the Big 10 move.

I actually think the Big 10 has made themselves slightly vulnerable going forward. They have a ton of egos and mouths to feed once its time for the next media rights negotiation. Plus add all of the travel challenges they have. They will be completely fine until 2030 because money will cure all until then. But that next cycle might be challenging unless they are consistently getting 3+ teams into the playoffs. They really need on field performance to go up a notch now compared to their usual Ohio St. plus one other school situation. And even then there might just be less money available for college sports media rights generally. I'd much rather be the SEC than the Big 10 going forward.
I agree and think the Big10 is a less unified conference going forward after these latest moves. Best guess is that today’s hiccup was as much a Big10 member issue as anything. I still think adding the first 2 western outposts were a mistake and adding 2 more doesn’t really solve that problem. In addition, adding one blue-blood (USC) and three mid to upper tier “glamour” schools will relegate more of the “original little 8” to less favorable network slots, hurting exposure.

I think the Big10 got outmaneuvered to add ORWA before they wanted to - good luck sorting out the schedule ( their first attempt with 16 was already a bit of a mess)

My summer tradition since I moved to LA is driving all up and down the coast and mountain regions backpacking and camping every summer/fall.

It's really driven home to me how crazy distant the Pac always was compared to every other major conference.

When I was driving around Eugene or Seattle last summer it was still a loooooooong ways back to LA and it did have me thinking I could have driven home to Iowa from LA in about the same time. Driving through rural eastern Washington...WSU is easily the most remote school in any major conference. I drove from LA to SLC/Provo last month...I did it in one day but it killed an ENTIRE summer day mostly eating out of my car. Utah/AZ/ASU were never close to other Pac schools either, they're going to have similar geography in Big 12 and better geography than new Big Ten has.
I remember years ago the late, great Al McQuire said that Pullman, Washington was “where old elephants went to die”. About right. Nice town but remote as @%#€.

These actions remind me of the scenes in draft day where the leverage moves back and forth in a matter of moments and Costner plays the seattle GM/coach for their draft picks back + a player + saves seattle the money after knowing Bo Calihan is a bust.

Hopefully BY says the deal has changed.

"By waiting to move UT, ASU, AZ allowed ORWA to use them/the PAC to secure a better deal for themselves. UT, ASU, AZ could have appeared stronger by actually reading the room and acting first. They did not Kudos to CU" - late realization of Utah fans on twitter
