What I don't like is as recently as Big 12 media days, Campbell was blowing smoke up everybody's a$$ about how good Hunter has looked this offseason, working hard etc. WTF, Matt?
Classic CMC. He'll have Dekkers listed as a starter the entire year and call him day to day.
Repeating and judging only from the couch but I got Ryan Leaf type vibes from Dekkers in a maturity/composure kind of way.
Perhaps this will be addition by subtraction.
Yes, he was blowing smoke. That's a media interview from CMC. And as bad as sports media can be, I'm all for him not letting them in on internalized decisions.
With little to no information to go off of, I have fully resigned myself to Becht having a Purdy-as-a-freshman type year
I am excited for football season, and would love to be wrong, but I feel like this is a slowly sinking ship. Campbell does not appear to have the culture where it needs to be, and if he doesn't have culture, what does he have? Certainly are not out talenting anyone. We have never been a win in the margins program either, despite that being his credo. This is trending down a very Paul Rhoads type of path IMO.
At that point he couldn't comment on anything. If he even hinted about the issue there could be blowback.
Not saying Matt did a perfect job communicating, but I'm not sure how much he really could say. Basically say nothing and try not to throw gas on rumors.

From the limited info Ive received this morning the staff has known for a bit that Dekkers would be out for the year. They were caught off guard with the betting on ISU football part, and they were NOT happy.
While we all can throw him under the bus quickly, the staff saw Dekkers as the best option for winning games this fall. The others were quite a bit behind him as one would imagine given his game experience. This is not going to make the season any easier for the staff.
Now to wait on the announcement for players who arent being charged. The folks I know connected to the team are very tight lipped and seem to only be able to talk after things are announced, whichbisnquite annoying at the moment.

If campbell comes out and says Dekkers if off the team, you dont think the Media would just run with that? Forget it being B12 media days at that point

That doesn't really sound any different than what Campbell would say if he were asked specifically about any player's development.
