I don't think that gets it done, but I'd do it in a heartbeat. Which is what makes me think its too light.Cubs are evidently involved in discussions for Brooks Raley from the Mets. Contract lasts through 2026.
Pete Alonso is also reportedly available. Contract would last through next year.
Mervis, Davis, Canario get it done?
Canario/Alcantara, Caisse, Brown gets that done. Right?According to Scherzer, Mets are building for 2025-26; Alonso's contract expires in 2025. Almost feel like we have to make a move with 1B being uncertain.
Probably, but why would they make that deal?Canario/Alcantara, Caisse, Brown gets that done. Right?
Moot now but you make it for two years of control on a proven power bat at a position of need.Probably, but why would they make that deal?
Sounds more like spending wrong.Moot now but you make it for two years of control on a proven power bat at a position of need.
I could see them platoon Madrigal and Mervis then use Candelario at both positions. Do the same thing with Bellinger platooning PCA and Suzuki. Of course they have to resign the pending free agents.Candelario was saying during his pregame interview learning how to play in this league was an adjustment but now that he's learned how to do the right things, he feels really good about where he's at.
Looking through his Baseball Savant page, remove his first two years in the league, he's never been an elite bat, but I would argue his year right now isn't an anomaly compared to his last 4 years, he's just been an unfortunate product of having to play at Comerica. His only analytically poor year since 2020 was 2022. In 2021 he hit 16 homeruns but would've had 29 homers if playing in 4 other ballparks.
Reason for posting this is I'm curious how much of this is a tryout to see if we can have someone play the corners on the cheap next year.
We can't afford to release him. Could trade him, but he would need to accept it having a full no trade clause. What are the terms of Suzuki's contract? How expensive would it be for the Cubs to dump him? I think with Fukudome and now Suzuki, maybe the Cubs should take a pass from now on with outfielders from Japan not named Ohtani (yes, I know Ohtani no longer plays in the OF).
So how much $$ are the Cubs on the hook for with Suzuki? Tbh, he just isn't very good. Certainly not enough production for a corner OF.We can't afford to release him. Could trade him, but he would need to accept it having a full no trade clause.
Seiya and Shohei are good friends in real life. I would guess Seiya is used to reel in Ohtani.
After this year, he's owed $60 million over the next 3 years. So how much $$ are the Cubs on the hook for with Suzuki? Tbh, he just isn't very good. Certainly not enough production for a corner OF.
Woof. So it's Heyward RF dead money all over again. Well, the good news is, Rickett's is a billionaire, it's not our money, etc...But still very discouraging. After this year, he's owed $60 million over the next 3 years.
I'd like to see what he could do if he could just focus on the bat and play an occasional RF.
You get Bellinger back and you can provide Suzuki that opportunity. Problem is his buddy Ohtani would be taking the DH spot.
Just switched over to this. Bell let Lively get tagged for 13?? Jeez.Beatdown City tonight.
