Anyone got any good podcasts to listen to regarding realignment?
On3

The Monty Show, Utah

Josh Pate, 247Sports

Colorado

365Sports, Baylor

Bunches more, from there.

Edit: My bad. I just now realized that JM4CY asked for "podcasts". I need to get my eyes (and brain) checked. Sorry! These are similar, but obviously not pods.:D

The McMurphy interview on the 365 YouTube channel tonight is gold. He explains everything about the current situation very clearly. Espn pays 20 mil per school and Fox pays 12 mil per school per the new B12 contract. Big 12 can move to 14 with the full 32 mil payout per school, anything past 14 ESPN is required to pay their 20 per power 5 school, but Fox would need to agree to pay their 12 mil share. He thinks UO and UW could go to the Big 12, but he really believes they end up in the B10 in the long term, which is giving the B12 cold feet. He thinks the most likely case if the B12 goes to 16, is thru the corner schools.

The Monty Show has been making stuff up for months. If they get anything right, it was because they had a lucky guess, not because they know anything. Same as Swaim or MHver

If the Pac loses 1 more school, they wouldn't even be able to have an 8 game conference schedule. Think that would disqualify them from the playoff? No media partners will ever sign up for that. At that point, they would first need to blindly add G5 members who join the conference with no media contract or dollar estimates. Then they would most likely get extremely lowballed an offer for majority streaming.

Sounds like SMU was the winner of the day! We’ll start tomorrow!

God damn I said this and less than 15 mins later everything went to ****. Damn you Colorado! Everything is your fault!
And we (the Big 12) are out to get you next (the B1G)! Better watch out Michigan! Watch out Mich. State. We are comin' for ya!

Watch out Rutkers and Maryland. None of you are safe! Bwahahaha

It’s weird. At one point, I thought that too. But then he had the Mountain West Commissioner on his show, and then the head of sports at ion on his shoe back when they were linked as a possible PAC-12 partner.

So he must know SOME people. This leads me to believe that maybe he does get nuggets of info, but it’s planted to advance an agenda, or he misinterprets it, or jumps to conclusions, etc.

I’m slotting Monty one notch above mHver and Swarm for credibility. He obviously gets stuff wrong, but it’s probably just a case of running with things that haven’t been fully vetted. After all, he has a 3 hour show to fill every day, and that’s probably more important to his business then getting everything exactly right.

Just my two cents.

As it should in that scenario. As I posted earlier, if the Big Ten wants them, just not right now, forget about Washington and Oregon, and look elsewhere.

Dear CyFan posters of the future, I'm still in the past, on page 1045 and I can't reach the goddamn end of this thread. My wife and child now hate me because I have my priorities straight: reading every post in this mega thread.

Signed, Helechopper on page 1045 (almost page 1046)

The B10 is currently at 16 and reportedly has spots reserved for ND, UNC, VA and perhaps Stanford. That doesn’t leave any room for Washington and Oregon unless the B10 is going to expand all the way to 24 teams. If that's their ultimate plan, why wouldn't the B10 go ahead and take Washington and Oregon now when both schools are in such a vulnerable position?

BY is awesome. One spot left guys. Who wants to roll the dice? Arizona is going to Big 12. They really have no choice. Geographic fit as well. They will move. Others have no choice. Or they arrogantly think they are superior to the Big 12.
