it is going to cost the pac 35 million to pry a school away from the MWC for the 2024 season correct? this seems to be the biggest hurdle for them. they dont have money to spend in order to secure a deal that makes less money than every other conference.

GK couldn't have fumbled this worse.
Larry Scott greased the ball which I think was the biggest fail for the PAC 12, among other things, including GK. He was slowly killing them with his arrogance, like many in the PAC12. The BIG12 was dying too BTW, but BY appears to be saving the day.

so 6 months and 3 years might be a bit young lol. I figure by the time we play in Boulder my older one would be ready. The littler guy still has awhile.
Nah, take them if you can have a good time. If you cant, get a sitter. Take your spouse to the game and have fun!

I doubt that ASU and Utah have commitable offers right now. They may be backup options if OuW decide to stick it out, but they’re #17 and #18 for a max of 16 spots. And I’m not sure they’re worth going to 16 if AZ takes the 14 spot and OuW decline. But I’m not sure what OuW’s options would be if AZ moves next. It’s basically Big12 or independent as legitimate options.
Agree.
If Oregon and Wash stay put, then Arizona has right of first refusal. If AZ declines, and ASU & UU decline too - essentially the PAC9 stays together... then say HELLO to UConn.

UConn is great bball add, and the ultimate back up plan. They can't say no to an invite, so you can hit on every other girl at the dance first with no risk.

As stated a few posts ago, Scott used CO as a domino to try and get TX, but ironically, it might be the domino that kills the conference. This from a very reliable inside P12 source.

Not really. He’s getting paid handsomely for his failure. And he’ll probably get another check when he’s fired before the end of his contract. So he’ll be just fine. The presidents and ADs are the ones that fumbled this when they hired the guy.

I really don't think we have to stretch far with CU/AZ now.

Would we really want to double up Utah's small population market when we can get into ACC markets soon?

There might be some advantage to having the same 16 as SEC and Big Ten.

If it's Oregon and Washington that get us to 16 you can make some arguments that the football quality is deeper than the Big Ten and basketball is going to be tops no matter who we add from here.
If the opportunity is there, I think you level up at 16 for now. The only reason to stop at 14 would be at the request of ESPN or Fox balking at putting up the additional funds. However, you've got to think both were planning on this eventuality with how they've handled the PAC negotiations.

Between ASU, Utah, AZ, WA and OR, which are the three least stupid? My money's on AZ, OR and WA. I don't understand ASU's hostility, or Utah's infatuation with all things PAC.

I believe it's mostly because Arizona has acted like they want us and ASU has been very clear they want the acedemics of the PAC.
Yes, that. Plus basketball.

The ASU academics thing, I don't get. They are super proud, but they aren't that special academically. Its weird. Like they are trying to pretend to belong with Stanford and Cal.
